Cape Breton’s Bras d’Or Lakes have been part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2011. You might’ve noticed a UNESCO sign welcoming you to the watershed on the side of the road.
The watershed is the area of land where all the water drains toward a common point, in this case, the Bras d’Or Lakes. This watershed area is also the region where CEPI focuses its efforts.

Last week James Doucette came up to Wagmatcook to teach some of the land based students how to tap maple trees and make syrup and sugar.
