Bras d'Or Lakes CEPI The Bras d'Or Lakes CEPI is a collaborative effort initiated by the 5 Mi'kmaq Chiefs of Unama'ki in 2003. We want to keep the Bras d'Or Lakes Golden!

The Bras d'Or Lakes Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative ["CEPI"] strives to create and facilitate the implementation of a watershed management plan for the Bras d'Or Lakes watershed. The Bras d'Or Lakes is a unique estuarine ecosystem located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. The CEPI was started by the five Mi'kmaq First Nations of Unama'ki (Cape Breton). It operates out of the Unama'ki Institute of Natural Resources in Eskasoni. Our planning and research partners include universities, non-profit environmental and watershed stewardship groups, all levels of government, industries, and Mi'kmaq Elders. Traditional ecological knowledge is an important part of our process, and we seek to integrate it into our research and planning via the Two Eyed Seeing approach.
