It is with profound sadness that we share with you the news of the passing of survivors in the last few months. Our sincerest condolences to the families and friends on behalf of our Monument Planning Committee.

Annie was very involved with all of the Orange Shirt walks and Truth and Reconciliation activities and often said the opening prayers.

Nathan lived on Vancouver and his health prevented him from travelling far. However he kept in touch with us and in touch with our activities for the monument.

Brian was a member of our Monument Planning Committee and attended the Survivor gathering as well. He was very proud of the work we were doing to build the monument.

Rest easy angels 🙏

May our survivors rest in peace and we say Kukwstsamc to you. This monument will have your name on it and we will never forget you or your contributions to our community and to the monument.

Here’s a little reminder of what all the fundraising is going towards. We are so glad to be working with Tania Willard as our monument artist. She has chosen a cedar basket design that will be made of fabricated steel and will replicate a cedar basket. It will be located at the Quilakwa Ball Park and will be a place of healing, helping us all ensure that the survivors are never forgotten.
