Fort Dufferin To promote the history of Fort Dufferin as it relates to the events of the past and present.

The page is here to raise the awareness of Fort Dufferin and the significant historical events that occurred at the site. It served at the headquarters for the Boundary Commission as they mapped out the 49th parallel, it was the staging grounds for the NWMP and their March West and was an immigration station where over 18000 people landed to begin their move west.

We are still hoping for the following in order to make Haunted Trail a success for another year:

🎃 Pumpkin donations
🫶🏻 Volunteers for the event on October 23 from 5:30-7:30 pm
🤡 Actors

The Post Road Heritage Group would like to remind visitors that motorized vehicles are not permitted on the grounds of Fort Dufferin. To help preserve the heritage landscape and protect the site’s fragile structures, motorized vehicles are prohibited on walking trails, grassy areas, and around all historic buildings.

Pursuant to subsection 12(1) of the National Historic Parks General Regulations, motorized vehicles are restricted to gravel roads only.

We thank all visitors for helping to preserve Fort Dufferin’s rich history by respecting these regulations and treating this important historic site with care. 💚
