The Supreme Court of Canada has granted SCI leave to represent hunters in CCFR’s challenge to the federal government’s ill-advised ban on “assault-style” fi****ms - which actually encompasses hundreds of fi****ms regularly used for hunting in Canada and abroad.

SCI is thrilled to stand up for hunters in this critical case, and to partner with Canadian Coalition for Fi***rm Rights to challenge a ban based on politics - not practicality.

07/16/2026

If granted, SCI will be the ONLY organization directly representing hunters before Canada’s highest court - giving a voice to sportsmen and women whose traditions, livelihoods, and access to trusted hunting tools are directly affected by these restrictions. 🚨

For SCI, this case is about more than fi****ms policy. It’s about ensuring the Court understands the real-world impact of broad fi***rm bans on hunters, rural communities, and Canada’s multi-billion-dollar hunting economy. It’s also about defending the rights of responsible hunters who have safely and legally used these fi****ms for generations.
