The Supreme Court of Canada has granted SCI leave to represent hunters in CCFR’s challenge to the federal government’s ill-advised ban on “assault-style” fi****ms - which actually encompasses hundreds of fi****ms regularly used for hunting in Canada and abroad.

SCI is thrilled to stand up for hunters in this critical case, and to partner with Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights to challenge a ban based on politics - not practicality.

If granted, SCI will be the ONLY organization directly representing hunters before Canada’s highest court - giving a voice to sportsmen and women whose traditions, livelihoods, and access to trusted hunting tools are directly affected by these restrictions. 🚨

For SCI, this case is about more than fi****ms policy. It’s about ensuring the Court understands the real-world impact of broad firearm bans on hunters, rural communities, and Canada’s multi-billion-dollar hunting economy. It’s also about defending the rights of responsible hunters who have safely and legally used these fi****ms for generations.

Some of our board members recently attended the SCI Chapter Leadership Training at the G2 Ranch in Texas. They heard about all the great advocacy work being done on our members behalf around the world, and were able to network with other chapters across North America. A big shout out to the Chapter and Advocacy teams that hosted such a great learning experience.

We are starting our day off hearing from legal experts about public land access in BC! 🚨
