Help us celebrate Ontario Culture Days this fall. This year’s theme is “Together We Create” and the Elora Environment Centre is thrilled to be participating in Centre Wellington! ✨🧚🌲🎨🍄

Join us for a fun, educational and family-friendly morning of creativity where you can paint your very own Fairy Doors! Decorate a wooden fairy door at this drop-in workshop and add a little bit of magic to your trees at home. As we decorate our doors, we will talk about the history, benefits and beauty of the forests and trees in Centre Wellington.

Noxious weeds and invasive plants can harm plants, vegetable gardens, animals, and humans. The Property Standards By-law and the Clean Yards By-law require property owners to maintain their properties to prevent the growth of noxious weeds.

I used to pull these without thinking twice 😅 Now I look a little closer first:
🌸 Violets are native wildflowers in many areas, not just “lawn weeds.”
🦋 They support fritillary butterflies, which use violet leaves as host plants.
🌿 They do well in shady spots where grass often struggles.
💧 Once settled, they usually don’t need much attention.
✂️ If they spread too much, I just thin them instead of wiping them out completely.
I don’t let them take over every bed, but I do think they deserve a little more credit.
