🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨
Tonight, Winnie is in the hospital.
A few days ago, we noticed that Winnie was limping. We immediately started pain medication and gave her stall rest, hoping it was something simple that would improve with time. Unfortunately, it didn’t.
This morning, Dr. Sarah came out to perform x-rays, and what we found was devastating.
After consulting with the orthopedic surgeon at the Ontario Veterinary College, we learned that the changes in Winnie’s leg are consistent with one of two possibilities:
💔 A severe joint infection that has progressively degraded the bone
💔 Osteosarcoma (bone cancer)
Neither diagnosis is easy.
Tonight, we made the long journey to Guelph so Winnie can undergo advanced diagnostics. The first step will be determining exactly what is happening inside her joint.
If this is a joint infection, specialists will drain and flush the joint, replace the joint fluid, identify the bacteria involved, and begin targeted treatment. If the bacteria does not respond to treatment, she may be facing amputation.
If this is osteosarcoma, we may be facing a much more difficult road ahead, including the possibility of amputation.
Right now, we don’t have answers. What we do have is a sheep who is still bright, still sweet, and blissfully unaware of how serious things may be.
The estimated cost of diagnostics and treatment is currently between $8,000 and $11,000.
We never allow finances to determine whether an animal receives care, but we need your help.
If you are able, please consider making a donation toward Winnie’s medical expenses. Every dollar helps us continue saying “yes” when the animals need us most.

Please also keep Winnie in your thoughts tonight. We know she can feel all the love being sent her way.
We’ll keep everyone updated as we learn more.
