We're starting something. πŸ“Έ

Every Thursday we're featuring one photo of Edmonton taken by someone who actually lives here. Your name, your credit, your shot on the page.

This one's from Harbir Sharma, the LRT crossing the river valley on a fall afternoon. This is the bar. Yours doesn't need to be this good, it just needs to be real.

Send us your best Edmonton photo in the comments or by DM. River valley, your street in winter, downtown from wherever you catch it, a corner of the city nobody else photographs.

First feature goes up next Thursday.

Follow the page so you don't miss yours.

Unpopular opinion: West Edmonton Mall is not a tourist attraction anymore. πŸ›’

It was in 1985. World's largest mall, waterpark, pirate ship, the whole thing.

In 2026 it's a mall with a water park attached and half the storefronts papered over. We keep telling visitors to go there and then quietly hope they don't ask why the sea lions are gone.

Meanwhile the river valley is the largest urban park in North America and nobody puts it on the list.

Tell me I'm wrong. πŸ‘‡

You can ride a 1912 streetcar across the High Level Bridge. πŸš‹

Not a replica. Not a museum piece behind glass. An actual streetcar from over a century ago, running on the top deck of the bridge, 45 metres above the river.

It's the highest streetcar bridge crossing in the world. Nothing else comes close.

It runs on a volunteer-operated line and most Edmontonians have driven under it a thousand times without knowing it's up there.

Have you actually been on it, or is this news to you? πŸ‘‡

Edmonton built a funicular so you don't take the stairs 🚑

It's been sitting there in the river valley long enough that people either swear by it or won't touch it.

Have you actually ridden it, or do you just walk past? πŸ‘‡

The LEGO Legislature might be hiding a Dementor πŸ‘€

Last time we posted this build, a few people in the comments swore there are hidden Star Wars figures tucked into it somewhere, plus a Dementor, plus a whole separate Vimy Ridge model nearby.

Anyone actually seen it in person and found any of them? πŸ‘‡

Somebody in Edmonton has a fire pit going, string lights across the whole yard, and a wooden swing to sit in while it burns. The stone ring and the rock edging are the boring part that makes the rest of it work. What's the one thing you'd add to your own yard if you finally stopped putting it off?

That pirate ship in West Edmonton Mall isn't a pirate ship πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ

It's a full size replica of the Santa Maria, Columbus's ship, and it's been sitting in that lake since the 80s. Half the city has been calling it wrong for 40 years.

What did you call it growing up?πŸ‘‡

95 Street has more pasta spots per block than anywhere else in Edmonton 🍝

Some are legit, some are riding on nostalgia alone.

Which one's actually worth the trip, and which one's overrated?πŸ‘‡

The Walterdale's arches were built in South Korea πŸŒ‰

Shipped here in pieces, $155 million total, and it still opened two years behind schedule back in 2017. I think about that every time I walk across it at night.

Nine years on, is it the best-looking thing this city has ever built, or a $155 million lesson? πŸ‘‡
