🌟 INSPIRE
"A life in a year, not a year in a life." 🌍✨

This month, we are focusing on the powerful impact of youth and global connection. We heard Maëlle's Youth Exchange story from France to the USA 17 years ago. The program transformed her from a shy teenager into a confident, adaptable global citizen who is now serving as our District Public Image Chair.

📚 EDUCATE
Charlene Zoltenko gave an overview of how our Youth Exchange programs operate across District 5370:

Youth Exchange Growth: We hosted 9 inbound students this year and are working hard to bump our numbers back up to an average of 15–20 students in the coming years. Upcoming exchange countries include Austria, France, Germany, Brazil, and Italy.

How to Qualify: Long-term exchange is open to students aged 15 to 18 who are currently enrolled in an Alberta high school.

New Pilot Program: Keep an eye out for a new short-term summer exchange pilot program (one month out, one month in) launching soon!

🎉 CELEBRATE
Let’s give a massive shout-out to the incredible milestones and fundraising impacts achieved by our local clubs:

Rotary Club of Grand Prairie: Congratulations on celebrating 75 years of service! Examples are: supporting air cadets for over 70 years to removing 236,000 lbs of garbage in a single day via their environmental cleanup, and contributing over $12 million back to the community through the Dream Home Lottery.

Rotary Club of Vermilion: Cheers to a record-breaking community-wide garage sale! Battling through a spring snowstorm, a club of just 30 members rallied 85 community volunteers and local youth groups to raise a phenomenal $70,000+.

You're both a testament to what Rotarians can accomplish!

📅 Mark your calendars for July 1st! New RI Director Marty Helman is visiting our district for a packed Canada Day featuring a peace ceremony at City Hall, a barbecue at Fort Edmonton Park, and a polio walk.

A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Whitehorse Rendezvous for organizing the Midnight Sun Social on Saturday, May 16.

What a fun evening with:
❄️ The Snowshoe Shufflers - if you keep an eye out, you can spot our past DG "Buckshot Brent" there
💃🏻 The Cancan dancers
🎙️ The Leesiders, who got everyone dancing late into the night!

Overall, a great community event highlighting Whitehorse's hospitality and warmth.

Investing in the Future 🌟

Our youth aren't just the leaders of tomorrow—they are the change-makers of today. But to reach their full potential, the kids in our community need our attention, mentorship, and support. 🤝

May is Youth Service Month (formerly known as New Generations Month). This month, Rotary Clubs worldwide shine a spotlight on the incredible programs that help young people find their voice and their purpose:

🫶 Interact & Rotaract: Developing leadership through service.

🚀 RYLA, RYPEN, & RYLE: Intensive leadership training and personal development.

🗺️ Youth Exchange: Building global peace and understanding, one student at a time.

When we invest in our youth, we invest in a better world for everyone. How are you supporting the next generation this month? 🌎✨

What a great day repping Rotary District 5370 at Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations for their Volunteer Fair, celebrating the end of . 🤝

We talked with many interested (and interesting!) people, along with connecting with fellow volunteer organizations.

Also had the pleasure to hear from Andrew Knack for a National Volunteer Week proclamation.

Thanks to Maëlle Toews, Bruce Hobin, and Umama Siddiqi for manning the table! 🙏🏻
