🏆 One last win for 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 taking out the 2025 Farmfair International B.E.E.F. Social Media Competition 🏆

Thank you Farmfair International and all the organisers, volunteers and sponsors for such an incredible initiative that has truly set the benchmark for international youth engagement in the beef industry!! The entire team were thrilled to be a part of this experience and to meet so many outstanding, likeminded young people from all across the world!

We also want to give a big shoutout to all teams – everyone created some seriously fun and creative social content.

Two teams, in particular, went above and beyond, delivering engaging journeys with behind-the-scenes footage, consistent daily posts, and an overall fantastic presence. Between Team Australia and Udderly Czech United, Team Australia stood out a bit more with extra context in their posts, smart tagging (including locations), and excellent use of social media best practices.

It was a tough decision, as everyone did an awesome job. Thanks to everyone for sharing your creativity with us!

Kevin and Liv discuss a brief overview of the K-Cow Ranch operation, the breeds they run and a signature component of their incredible hospitality! Well after a full on week at Farmfair International and majority of the team (Chloe, Liv & Eden) still in Canada right now, 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 are finally getting the chance to catch up and reflect on what was an unbelievable experience competing in the 2025 inaugural B.E.E.F. Farmfair International Youth Competition!

Results for 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 throughout the competitions include;
🏆 Reserve Champion Overall Judging Team
🏆 Eden Kaminski receiving high point individual in the bull judging class
🏆 Chloe Bailey receiving high point individual in the heifer judging class
🏆 Chloe also being awarded the OVERALL CHAMPION JUDGE and high point individual!! This allowed Chloe the incredible opportunity to step in as a guest judge for the Junior Supreme Show. What an amazing experience to be one of the panel judges on the international stage!

🏆 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 were also awarded Champion Team for the ‘Monetise your Trip’ presentation where they had to deliver a presentation all about the Australian cattle industry, international trade and youth engagement!

As part of the team’s presentation, we recruited the help of some of Australia’s well recognised purebred/stud breeders to help us talk about our climate, management systems and the influence that international genetics has had on our programs! We look forward to sharing these videos with you through our page also!

The first day for 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 at Farmfair International included the pre-event tour where we explored:

🔹 Alberta Legislature Building
🔹 Muttart Conservatory
🔹 Rogers Place & the ICE District

This tour was an awesome opportunity to meet and connect with the other team members from across the globe. While also getting to see the main attractions of Edmonton.

𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧 - 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬

🔸The Mace used by the Legislative Assembly of Alberta contains seven gemstones (Amethyst, Lazurite, Bloodstone, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, and Agate). The first letter of each gemstone spells ALBERTA

🔸 The Wollemi Pine which can be found in the Muttart Conservatory was thought to be extinct until they were rediscovered in 1994 in the Wollemi National Park, NSW, Australia

🔸 The ice rink at Rogers Place, like many NHL rinks is only approximately 3cm thick!

Day 5 (Monday) - After a few tourist days around the scenic Banff National Park, we made our way up to Bashaw, AB to visit with the exceptional Miller Wilson Angus program.

𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 has a huge appreciation for the incredible consistency and quality of the DMM herd! The team learnt about the foundation maternal lines which have helped to create this impeccable herd of females. While gaining an understanding of how and why the DMM program has developed their breeding philosophies over the years to create the elite lines of cattle that they produce.

The team got an early insight into which animals would be making an appearance at Farmfair International this week and learnt about what it takes to produce a champion!

We also particularly enjoyed our table discussions with Dawn about the similarities and differences in our junior cattle programs between Canada and Australia.

𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧 - 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 that the majority of Canadian junior shows occur during the summer months of June, July and August each year.

Day 2 (Friday) - An exciting stop at Hamilton Farms Inc. for 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 was filled with great cattle and extraordinary people!

We all had a captivating tour through the HF heifers, young bulls and cow herd! A real highlight was spending the first part of our tour in the HF sale barn learning all about the history and establishment of Hamilton Farms followed by a visit to their processing and calving barn. We learnt all about the management practices at HF from both a purebred (stud) and commercial standpoint.

The quality of the cowherd was truly admirable, their consistency and performance while still maintaining calving ease was definitely a standout and really evident in the type of cattle throughout their herd. We want to sincerely thank Rob and Gail for their time, kindness and hospitality in touring our team through their program and welcoming us all into the family and your home!

It was such an inspiration to everyone to hear your story and see the success and reward that can be achieved from hard work, passion and setting goals!

𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧 - 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 that Hamilton Farms also have a conception to consumer program where they breed, process and sell their own beef product directly to consumers. The HF program diversely covers the entire supply chain, from breeding and raising both purebred and commercial cattle, right through to feeding, finishing and processing their own animals to create a premium beef product!

Day 2 (Friday) - Our first stop on day two was at Alta Genetics, Balzac AB where 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔 further developed their understanding of the international genetic market.

We learnt all about semen collection and processing, the export qualification protocols, caring for bulls at stud and the many different countries that semen can be exported to.

𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧 - 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 that Alta Genetics have a very cool underground 3m deep transport pipe that runs from the collection barn into the laboratory. They load the fresh samples collected from bulls in the collection barn into a capsule which is then loaded into the pipe and propelled underground and delivered directly to the laboratory.

This definitely beats having someone walk the samples all the way to a different building during the cold winters!
