1926 Hudson Super Six 2 Door

Al & Marilynn purchased the partially completed 1926 Hudson from a local fellow in the Spruce Grove, AB area about 15 years ago. Al believes he is the fifth owner of the Hudson. The previous owner bought the car with intentions of doing a full restoration but never completed it. The car came with two additional pallets of spare parts that were originally from Vancouver Island BC. Al has used the extra to help complete the restoration and has also shared extra parts with fellow Hudson owners in the EACC.

In 1926 Hudson advertised 1 mile per Minute or a terrifying 60 MPH in a car with only rear wheel brakes. The car is very heavy in the front and doesn’t stop well. Al said the car cruises comfortably at 40 MPH.

The Hudson features a 6 cylinder 289 engine with a polished aluminum lower block and a 3 speed transmission with square cut gears. It has inside controlled shutters and an original security lock on the gear shift tower. The brakes are mechanical and on the rear wheels only. The electric windshield wiper is standard, but the front bumper was a option in 1926.

Fun fact - In The Grapes of Wrath Movie (1940) Staring Henry Fonda, the Joad family depends on a 1926 Hudson Super Six sedan converted into a truck to survive.

1926 Chevrolet Superior Touring Sedan Owners: Arend & Joyce

I purchased this 1926 Chevrolet Superior Touring car right after I retired after forty years of teaching. It was pretty much a basket case, and it needed everything. Most of the parts were there but a lot of it came in boxes. I bought myself a MIG welder and assorted other tools and set about doing a complete restoration, learning the skills needed as I went along. The motor that came with it was a 1928 motor which was rusted solid and had a cracked block, which I stitched. It is still running after nearly 20 years. I re-spoked the wheels and made a new rim for the steering wheel, using hickory. The floorboards are made out of red oak with a natural finish. I did all the upholstery, and it was my first time sitting behind a sewing machine. I steam bent the top bows and sewed the top. I did all the body work and painted the car with Endura paint in a makeshift paint booth in my garage.

The fourth annual St. Sophia Ukrainian Catholic Knights of Columbus Car show was held on Saturday May 9th, 2026. Despite the inclement weather earlier in the day, approximately fifty-five cars were on show including seven from the Edmonton Antique Car Club.
The event took place at St. Sophia Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sherwood Park. All proceeds go to the Ukrainian families in Strathcona County that have been displaced by the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Last night was our final EACC general meeting until September.
For June, July and August we participate in mystery tours rather than sit in a very warm Bison Lodge for meetings.
Members are welcoming the warmer weather and there were at least 20 old cars in the parking lot and 91 members and one guest in attendance.

Earl's & Debbie's Model T Story

During the Summer of 2014 we did a truck trailer trip to Ontario and returned via USA route through the Detroit area. We visited the Henry Ford Museum and the Ford Rouge F150 plant in Dearborn Michigan.

While at the Museum they did tours in Model T’s of all kinds. I kind of thought it would be great to have one. Once back home I started looking into what was available and where the cars would be at. Found one in Pug Wash Nova Scotia. I conversed with the owner for about a month and put a refundable deposit on and that I would be there in November to view the car. That fall we booked a trip to Ottawa for the 150th Remembrance Day Ceremony. After a couple of days in Ottawa I flew to Halifax and drove to Pug Wash (in a blizzard) to look at the 1926 Touring Model T. I made the deal to purchase the car.

During the purchase process we figured out that the seller knew a guy that was moving back to the Maritimes from Edmonton and was doing empty enclosed trailer back hauls to Edmonton. I hooked up with this guy and made a deal to transport the car from Pug Wash to Edmonton. By that time it was late in November and driving conditions across Canada would not be great. It so happened that the transport guy was doing one final trip before Christmas and that he would bring the car back on that trip. He was expected to be in Edmonton before Christmas. But due to various delays, we got the car just a couple of days before New Year's. Yippee. We got the car into the heated garage. On New Year's Day we got the car to life and did a short trip around the block. We did a bunch of

looking and checking the car over the rest of the winter to see what things needed to be fixed. It did not look that bad so a good deal was made. In the summer of 2015 we drove the car some but found it hard to start and was finicky to drive. That made me start to look into what Edmonton had for resources for old car clubs that could help me sort out the issues with the car. I found EACC and joined the club. During the first few meetings with the club as able to hook up with member Chris which helped me immensely with the repairs to be done. That winter of 2015 major work was done to the mechanical of the car which included a complete Front Axle, Engine, Transmission, Rear differential. The Drive Shaft and Brakes were also rebuild. (Maybe it was not a great deal after all) but now it starts and runs pretty good.

Car History

The Car is a 1926 Model T Touring. The car is a Canadian-made car from the engine serial # and the running boards (That is not to say the many parts were not changed out over the number of years). The previous owner did the restoration approximately 20 years before I bought it. He was a bodyman by trade and also was a body shop trade instructor at a tech school for deaf people in Nova Scotia. From what he told me he had the car for a few years prior to the restoration. From doing various repairs on the car I found primer, paint on different components of the car that should not have had those items. So I am speculating that maybe some students had a hand in the restoration.

Just by chance I learned that the previous owner had the Canadian Pickers Scot and Sheldon visit his property to buy things. On the show there is one short clip that shows the Model T back in a corner of a building which is kind of neat.

EACC member, Brian, and his friend Doug car pooled to the Red Deer Swap Meet yesterday in Chris' 1947 Dodge sedan and spent a good part of the afternoon hunting for treasures. We got to test the overdrive transmission that Chris installed in the Dodge on a stretch of the QE2 highway south of Leduc where province has a pilot project to raise the speed limit to 120 kmh.
