Students' Association of MacEwan University

Students' Association of MacEwan University The Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) is a student-centred organization governed by students, for students.

SAMU is all about balancing work and play. We work for student advocacy and we’re committed to providing resources like a reliable Health & Dental plan, the U-Pass, the Pantry, Peer Support and an appeals process for those tough academic situations. We also understand academics aren’t the only part of the University experience, because we still know how to put together some epic events and student

programming. Basically, we’ve got your back while you work out the tricky stuff… like actually studying.

Thank you, Nathan!

As we welcome our new Executive Committee and prepare for the upcoming semester, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our President, Nathan P**n, for his dedication, leadership, and hard work throughout his first term.

From advocating for students to leading key initiatives, Nathan has made a lasting impact on the student community. We are grateful for all of his contributions and are excited to see him continue this work as he returns for a second term as President.

Congratulations, Nathan, and here's to another successful year ahead!

This June, we recognize National Indigenous History Month by renewing our commitment to truth and reconciliation and to uplifting Indigenous voices on campus, recognizing that we are all treaty people. We honour and celebrate the many Indigenous students who have walked the halls of MacEwan University in pursuit of learning, and we remain committed to addressing the systemic barriers faced by Indigenous learners within the university.

We celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and achievements of Indigenous people in Canada, and through responsible stewardship, we offer our gratitude to the lands and people of Treaty 6 for being home to our work.

As you make your way through this month, take the time to learn, reflect, and engage with the many available learning opportunities on Indigenous experiences within Canada, and your role in upholding truth and reconciliation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Student Groups Appreciation!
Student Groups are what make our campus such a vibrant, thriving community.

We’re so lucky to have such a wide range of student groups on campus. The spaces you create matter, whether it’s giving someone a break from their classes, helping them make new friends, building their confidence, or just giving them somewhere they feel like they belong.
