As we celebrate Latin American Heritage Month in Canada 🇨🇦 we’re taking a look back at a very special day.

¡ALEGRÍA! was more than a celebration. It was a space where culture, community, music, food, art and traditions came together and where Latin American voices could be seen and heard.

And this October, we want to share those voices with you❤️

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing a series of videos featuring some of the amazing vendors who were part of ALEGRÍA. They’ll share who they are, what being part of ALEGRÍA meant to them, and why representation and celebrating Latin American culture is so important.

Because representation matters.
Our stories matter.
Our culture matters.

We’re excited for you to hear directly from the people who helped make ALEGRÍA so special. 🌎❤️

ALEGRÍA Vendor Series coming up! 🔥🔥 Stay tuned!

Thank you, Edmonton. Thank you, Central America. 💙🤍

We’re still searching for the words to describe what we lived at our Central American Celebration. It was a day to honour our community, our roots, and everything we are, even when we’re far from home.

You danced, you sang, you shared the day with your families, and you felt at home. And at the end of the night, listening to Ligia Morales and watching Sangre Morena dance to the music we grew up with, so many of you left with tears in your eyes. So did we. Seeing how much our culture means to each of you moved us deeply.

None of this would have been possible without so many incredible people:

Thank you to Romero Entertainment Inc. for believing in this dream and helping us make it happen, and to La Orquesta Son Romero for getting the whole room on its feet.

Thank you to Ligia La Del Sombrero Azul for travelling to be with us and giving us an unforgettable night, and to SANGRE MORENA DANCE GROUP for bringing our folklore to the stage with so much pride.

Thank you to Amanda Rivers, Sol y Canto, Kej (Deer) Collective, DJ Fuego Denis ElFuego Rivas, and Zumba Cumbia with ✨❤️‍🔥 Marni Benavides BAILE fanatic ❤️‍🔥✨ and Sharon Halliday for filling the day with music and joy.

Thank you to our vendors and food trucks:

Thank you to our kitchen team, who made pupusas with so much love so we could all feel a little closer to home. 🫓

And a very special thank you to our volunteers: those at the door who welcomed every guest with a smile, and those who stayed late, without anyone asking, to make sure everything went perfectly. You are the heart of ESCA.

Thank you to everyone who came. This celebration was by you and for you.

See you next time! 🇸🇻🇬🇹🇭🇳🇳🇮🇨🇷🇵🇦🇧🇿
