Sage Seniors Association

Sage Seniors Association In it's 56th year, Sage continues to be a trusted resource for seniors living in community.

Sage is a senior-serving not-for-profit organization that collaborates with partners who have one goal in mind: helping seniors to live their best lives possible. At Sage, seniors do as much as they can, as well as they can, for as long as they can. Our innovative social services and life-enrichment programs are bound by a common mission: that all Edmonton seniors live the fullest, healthiest, mos

t adventurous lives possible. Our community has a unique opportunity to view seniors as community assets; to not only offer help when they need it, but to ultimately encourage them to contribute and fulfill their potential. Seniors helped to build our province, and at Sage, they’re still building.

Every day at Sage, something small and meaningful happens.
A burden lifted.
A moment where someone feels safe, seen, and less alone.
These moments don’t happen just once a year—they happen every day because of a community that shows up.
If Sage has ever made you feel proud of the community we’re building together, you’re already part of it.
And if you’ve ever wondered how to keep that going, monthly giving is one simple way to help celebrate saging all year long.

What a wonderful Seniors' Week celebration!

Despite the uncertain forecast, the rain stayed away and the Plaza in front of City Hall was filled with music, laughter, conversation, and community. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the contributions, creativity, and vitality of older adults in Edmonton.

A special thank you to Cam Neufeld and band for sharing their incredible talent, and to our partners at GEF Seniors Housing and Edmonton Public Library for helping make the event such a success.

We are also grateful to the dedicated RBC volunteers who helped throughout the event, and to Edmonton Arts Council and Rotary Club of Edmonton NorthEast for their generous support.

Events like this remind us that community grows stronger when people come together across generations to connect, celebrate, and enjoy a summer afternoon.

Thank you for celebrating Seniors' Week with us! There is much more to come this month as June is all about seniors!

The skies may be a little grey, but there will be plenty of bright energy at today’s Seniors’ Week celebration!

Join Sage Seniors Association, GEF Seniors Housing, Edmonton Public Library, and friends from 12:00–1:00 p.m. on the Plaza in front of City Hall for live fiddle music, fresh sugar donuts, community connections, and a chance to celebrate the contributions of older adults in our city.

Please note that Edmonton Beer Fest is set up in Churchill Square today. You can walk through or around the festival area to reach us—just head toward City Hall and look for the Sage tent.

We look forward to celebrating with you!

As part of Seniors' Week, a small group gathered at Sage to share poetry, stories, and reflections during a Sage Words: Poetry Open Mic initiated by Sage volunteer and published poet, Kevin Girard .

It was a lovely afternoon of listening, connecting, and appreciating the creativity that continues to flourish at every age.

The event also marked the beginning of a new monthly drop-in Poetry group at Sage (the second Tuesday of every month). Whether you write poetry, enjoy putting thoughts on paper, or simply like listening to others, you're welcome to join.

Thank you Help Age International for bringing awareness to the special needs of older adults in emergency / humanitarian circumstances.

In emergencies, older people, people with disabilities, and other at-risk groups are often among the most affected, yet their needs can be overlooked in humanitarian responses.

HelpAge International has developed a range of practical resources to support more inclusive preparedness and emergency response, including guidelines on shelter, health, livelihoods, needs assessments, and emergency preparedness.

We have also created interactive learning games to help humanitarian staff and volunteers better understand the importance of age, disability, and gender inclusion in crisis settings.
