Every year, Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) holds hundreds of fundraising events that are open to the public. DUC events are fun and action-packed! From black-tie galas to community hall dinner and auctions to clay shoots, we have an event that you’ll love. Proceeds help DUC raise funds for on-the-ground habitat conservation programs, scientific research, public policy efforts and wetland education i

n Canada. Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2023. That’s more than three-quarters of a century of work conserving critical wetlands including marshes and ponds. Together, we’ve conserved 6.3 million acres and completed over 9,000 habitat conservation projects. Building on the strong foundation developed by our founders back in 1938, DUC is continuing the rich tradition of wetland conservation and writing a new chapter for waterfowl, wildlife and all Canadians. Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) delivers conservation programs at the local, regional and national levels, contributing to a healthier environment for waterfowl and all Canadians. To date, DUC has completed 9,112 habitat projects and conserved 6.3 million acres of wetlands and associated habitat.

Conservation should not be considered separate from Truth and Reconciliation; it should be viewed as part of its protection and preservation. Reconciliation honours both the people and the land where this all began.

We are committed to conservation and we honour the traditional lands where Indigenous Peoples have lived for generations, caring for the water, wetlands and wildlife we work to protect today.

Conserving Canada’s Wetlands

The Edmonton Ducks Unlimited Ladies Committee started in 1984, hosting their first fundraising dinner in November of that year. Their annual fundraising dinner is the sole “Ladies Event” in all of Alberta. If you have never attended a Ducks Unlimited Fundraising dinner, you are missing out! The dinner features a silent & live auction with prints, furniture, collectibles and other exceptional prizes. Throughout the evening, there are also a number of special raffles featuring unique prizes, many of which are donated by local businesses.

With a mission to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl, Ducks Unlimited Canada has been working hard for 80 years to save Canada’s wetlands. Wetlands play a crucial role in the overall health of the community. They filter our water, provide critical habitat for wildlife, reduce flooding and provide recreational spaces for people to enjoy nature at its finest. Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 2 million acres of significant wetlands right here in Alberta, completing 406 wetland projects and protecting 163.28 acres of habitat within a 100 km radius of Edmonton!

None of this has been possible without our partnerships in our local communities and with the businesses and individuals who support our conservation efforts!
