Introducing our Advisory Committee members - meet Raqshanda khan 💫 Raqshanda Khan is a Senior Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs, Ontario, with years of experience across both the public and private sectors. Her work focuses on policy development and intergovernmental collaboration, informed by a strong interest in environmental and public policy issues. She holds a Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Environmental Studies, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Toronto. Outside of work, she is an avid reader, athlete, and nature enthusiast who enjoys spending time outdoors.

Meet our Advisory Committee: Samantha Tristen 💫 Samantha Tristen serves as the Project Manager and Historical Researcher for the Canadian International Council’s oral history project on Jean Chrétien’s time as Prime Minister. She holds both a BA and MA in History from the University of Toronto and is deeply passionate about history, civic engagement, and education. A 2022 graduate of the Munk School’s Master of Global Affairs program, she enjoys running, playing board games, and writing creative nonfiction in her spare time.

Introducing our Advisory Committee: Tavila Haque M.Edđź’«
Tavila is a doctoral student in Educational Leadership and Policy, specializing in Comparative International Development Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. She holds a Master of Education (MEd) from OISE and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Toronto.
Born in Bangladesh and raised in Botswana and Canada, Tavila developed a deep appreciation for lifelong learning, cultural exploration, and respect for individuals from diverse backgrounds. She brings over a decade of experience working across the non-profit sector, including with the Toronto International Film Festival and international non-governmental organizations such as Plan International Canada.
Through her academic pursuits, Tavila explores social justice and refugee education, with a strong commitment to advancing policy reforms that support displaced children worldwide. Her research focuses on the educational needs and policies affecting children living in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Through this work, she aims to collaborate with local non-governmental organizations to ensure that stateless children have access to their fundamental right to education and the opportunity to thrive.
Tavila is a dedicated advocate for decolonizing refugee education and promoting human rights. Through her scholarship and professional endeavors, she remains committed to amplifying marginalized voices and fostering equitable and inclusive educational opportunities for all.
