True freedom begins within, and together, we're creating a safe space for women to break free from survival mode, reclaim their power, and lead with purpose and peace. This journey is about more than personal growth; it's about liberation, rest, and redefining leadership on our own terms. Join us on this life-changing path.

We are Celebrating Seven Years of Sisterhood, Story & Impact at WAWT

Seven years ago, a spark was lit in Edmonton. On February 25, 2019, we gathered for the very first Women Talk Africa, a pioneering event that brought together African, Caribbean, and Black professional women from across the diaspora. It was a first for our city: a dedicated space to share our stories, celebrate our identities, and honour Black History Month together. From that powerful beginning, a lasting sisterhood was born.

This February, we mark a major milestone: Seven years of WAWT. Seven years of showing up for each other. Seven years of learning, growing, and building together. Seven years of amplifying the voices and work of Black Canadian women in Alberta.

The heart of this impact beats strongly at Women Talk Wednesdays, our regular space for honest conversation, shared wisdom, and meaningful connection. Through powerful storytelling and transformative discussions, we have strengthened our bonds and proven the incredible power of our collective voice.

And this anniversary edition promises to be our most special yet.

We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate seven years of legacy at our next Women Talk Wednesday. Come, reconnect, and help us honour the journey as we continue to build forward, together.

Today, as we join the 16 Days of Activism, we honor the powerful legacy of women who came before us. In her keynote, Dr. Jennifer Njenga shared how her mother and sister both trailblazers for women’s rights in Uganda, paved the way for her work. Standing on that legacy, Dr. Njenga is a Pan‑African, global citizen and proud Canadian, serving communities and boards across Alberta.

This year’s call to action: end digital violence against all women and girls. The online world should empower not terrorize women and girls. Speak up, support survivors, and demand safer digital spaces for everyone.
