This year, the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre celebrated its 15-year anniversary.

Fueled largely by the Government Of Alberta, the Action Centre has driven real change across our province by:

The Municipal Electricity Generation Program provides up to 30% funding for municipalities to install solar PV or other on-site electricity generators on municipal buildings or land to save on energy costs and reduce their environmental impact.

This project is a partnership of QUEST Canada, CIER : Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources, Community Energy Association, and Eco-West Canada.

In 2023, MCCAC received a $18 million investment from the Government Of Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Fund.

In 2023, MCCAC delivered the Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative, funded in part by Environment and Natural Resources in Canada and the Government Of Alberta.

The initiative was rooted in the Government of Canada’s requirement that all new vehicle sales be zero-emission by 2035.

As a result of this program Albertans were provided with opportunities to test-drive electric vehicles and get their questions answered by experts. The program also unveiled a new Electric Vehicle savings calculator to help consumers assess the benefits of going electric.
