About Millhurst Community League: Millhurst Community League is dedicated to enhancing community life through recreational activities. We are currently seeking a skilled Ice Installer/Technician to help us create and maintain our ice rink for the upcoming season.

Job Summary: The Ice Installer/Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the ice surface at the Meyokumin site. This role is essential for ensuring a safe and enjoyable skating experience for our community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install and maintain the ice surface according to league standards.

- Monitor ice conditions and perform necessary repairs.

- Snow removal of sidewalks around building

- Operate and maintain ice maintenance equipment.

- Ensure safety protocols are followed during installation and maintenance.

- Communicate with league officials regarding ice conditions and requirements.

Qualifications:

- Experience in ice installation and maintenance preferred.

- Knowledge of ice rink operations and maintenance equipment.

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Looking for a fun, free morning activity for you and your little ones?

Join us for Story Sprouts at Millhurst Community Hall on Thursday mornings! Designed for children ages 0–6, this program is packed with songs, fun activities, and interactive story sharing to help nurture early literacy, numeracy, and language skills. Each week features a brand-new theme to explore together!

Plus, stick around after the program to borrow books for FREE to take home!

When: Thursdays, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM (Program: 10:00–11:00 AM | Book lending: 11:00–11:30 AM)

A neighbourhood is only as strong as the care people invest in it, and Millhurst has always been rich in people who give from the heart. ❤️

Giving your time to a community is one of the most generous things a person can do. It means choosing connection over convenience, standing in the cold or staying late to clean up, and bringing warmth to strangers who soon become friends. Our volunteers do not ask for a spotlight, yet they are the quiet heartbeat behind every laugh shared, every program run, and every memory made here.

Our Volunteer Appreciation Night was our chance to pause and reflect back a fraction of the gratitude our volunteers bring to us every day. We also really appreciate our neighbourhood partners: Millhurst Medical Clinic for contributing a $25 gift card prize at Community League Day and Beyond Vision Optometrists donating sunglasses and candles to help us treat our volunteers.

THANK YOU to every volunteer who weaves care and belonging into the fabric of Millhurst. We are stronger, kinder, and richer as a community because of you!

COMMUNITY TRUNK-OR-TREAT !
Do you love Halloween but never get many trick-or-treaters at your house? Or are you a local business looking for a fun way to connect with the community?
Join us as a Trunk Host for our upcoming Community Trunk-or-Treat!
How it works: Decorate your car trunk, truck bed, or SUV. Park in our lot, and hand out treats to kids in a safe, fun environment. Businesses are welcome to put out a sign, wear company shirts, and hand out promotional items alongside candy!
📅 When: Saturday, October 31st from 5:00–7:00 pm with vehicle setup to be completed by 4:30 PM
📍 Where: Millhurst Community Parking Lot | 5811-19 A Avenue, NW
🍬 What to bring: Enough candy or treats for 120 kids. Free hot chocolate will be provided for all vehicle hosts!

Come out and learn a new craft! Our stained glass classes are great for beginners to advanced. Space available for October 13th.

Effective immediately, the cutting glass part will no longer be mandatory for beginners. Instead, it will be optional if you and Fern (our instructor) both feel that you are comfortable cutting glass once your project is underway during the session.
