Is there a similar organization in Alberta?

At Inclusion BC, we work every day to advance the rights and opportunities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. From one-to-one advocacy for families navigating complex systems, to community partnerships that push for inclusion, our work depends on a strong and sustainable nonprofit sector.

Right now, that sector is at risk. Demand is growing, funding is shrinking, and too many organizations are being forced to cut programs or close their doors. Dedicated staff are burning out, and families who rely on nonprofits are the ones most affected.

That’s why we’ve joined over 200 nonprofit leaders in signing an open letter: "The Safety Net Is Tearing - Funders Must Act Now."

Read it here: https://bcpolicy.ca/2025/09/11/funding-crisis/

What the sector needs:
➡️Core, multi-year, unrestricted funding that keeps up with the cost of living
➡️Less red tape and more transparency in grantmaking
➡️Investment in the nonprofit workforce with living wages, benefits, and training

Nonprofits are the backbone of BC’s communities. It’s time to strengthen, not strain, the safety net.
