Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton The Ukrainian Dnipro Choir fosters and promotes the finest elements of traditional and contemporary Ukrainian choral music.

Dnipro had its start as the Dnipro Male Chorus, which was founded by the late Roman Soltykewych and a group of fellow devotees of Ukrainian choral music in the fall of 1953. In 1971, the choir became a mixed chorus. In 1975, with the addition of an orchestra and dance troupe, the mixed choir became the Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton. This remains its legal name, although the ensemble’s orchestra and dancers disbanded in 1985. Today, the choir is popularly known as the Ukrainian Dnipro Choir of Edmonton or simply Dnipro. Over its 60-year history, Dnipro has welcomed more than 400 members, staged hundreds of concerts, participated in numerous music festivals and competitions, performed on radio and television, produced 11 recordings and impressed critics and audiences across Canada, the United States and the South Pacific.

The Dnipro choir, under the direction of Artistic Director, Irena Szmihelsky, is a mixed SATB chorus that has been entertaining audiences since 1953!
Our choir performs a wonderful variety of music, including classical, sacred, opera, folk, and contemporary repertoire.

Хор Дніпро- це змішаний хор, що включає усі голоси (сопрано, альт, тенор, бас). Хор дарує радість слухачам ще з 1953 року. Сьогодні колектив працює під керівництвом талановитої диригентки Ірини Шмигельської.
У репертуарі хору є різноманітні твори, зокрема класичні, духовні, оперні, народні та сучасні.

Day 3 of the West Coast Ukie Fest was unforgettable! 🇺🇦❤️🇨🇦

We had a wonderful day of performances at the Mary Winspear Community Theatre, enjoyed delicious food, beautiful Ukrainian vendors and artisans, and a lively zabava in Sidney. We celebrated Canada Day by exploring Victoria—from Chinatown and the Inner Harbour to the BC Parliament Buildings and Fisherman’s Wharf. Some also enjoyed the beautiful Butchart Gardens.

Day 2 | Monday, June 29: Vancouver PERFORMANCE. We began the morning with a visit to Stanley Park, surrounded by towering trees and beautiful coastal views. We continued onto Granville Island, a culinary hub, where we explored the famous public markets. In the afternoon, headed to the Michael J. Fox Theatre where other performers from as far as Toronto, Winnipeg, Dnipro Choir of Edmonton, and local Vancouver performers enjoyed the memorable West Coast Ukie Festival hosted by Cobblestone Freeway Tours. This morning on Day 3 of our tour, we travel by ferry across the scenic waters to Vancouver Island where we will perform tonight at the Mary Winspear Community Centre! Stay tuned! 🎶💙💛🎶

other visiting ensembles for a lively vocal workshop given by the talented performing artist, Olesia Shewchuk. In the evening, we headed to Vancouver’s historic Gastown district and enjoyed

Чоловіки, нам потрібні ваші голоси! 🎶

Український мішаний хор «Дніпро» в Едмонтоні шукає тенорів та басів.

У нас співають і жінки, і чоловіки. Та зараз нашому звучанню дуже бракує саме чоловічої сили й глибини. Якщо ти колись співав, мріяв спробувати, або просто любиш українську пісню — приходь.

Неважливо, чи ти профі, чи востаннє співав у душі. Головне — бажання. Усьому навчимо, підтримаємо. В нас тепло, по-родинному, і дуже весело після репетицій.

The Ukrainian mixed choir «Dnipro» in Edmonton is looking for tenors and basses.

We have both women and men singing with us. But right now our sound is really missing that masculine strength and depth.

If you’ve sung before, dreamed of trying, or just love Ukrainian songs — come join us. It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or if the last time you sang was in the shower. The main thing is the desire. We’ll teach you everything and support you along the way.

It’s warm, family-like, and a lot of fun after rehearsals.

Приходь до нас у хор. Ми — хор Дніпро, жіноча частина у нас як сестринство. Ми разом готуємось до концертів і разом хвилюємось. Разом репетируємо і разом п’ємо каву після, обговорюючи все на світі.
