🔹 Isabella Kemp
“My goals as VP marketing is to maintain a strong social media presence for the UPA on all platforms so students can feel more connected with people in psychology at UofA. I hope to be able to answer lots of questions from our followers on our stories and comment sections. With the help of VP communications I also wish to be able to reach incoming psychology students so they can familiarize themselves with the UPA and chose ways to get involved with their program. I would love to be able to make more merchandise designs, even for possible new products (i.e. lanyards, pins, and phone wallets)! Most importantly I want to prioritize using the UPA platforms for feedback from our followers. I want to allow students to provide feedback after attending events hosted by the UPA to address any comments or concerns, and to find out what everyone’s favourite events are! Making the UPA community even more connected is a goal that I will achieve in my role as VP marketing.”

“I am dedicated to bringing collaborative leadership, productive communication, and marketing to the UPA as VP of Communications or as VP of Marketing. A leading goal of mine is to ensure that every student is not only aware of but also actively involved in the many opportunities the UPA offers. Successful communication of ideas and active promotion of events is central to what I want to do for the UPA. To achieve this, maintaining a strong presence on social platforms is essential. I am committed to leverage these channels to promote all UPA media and initiatives directly to students and our campus community. I intend to keep UPA members up to date on all current events through monthly newsletters and social media posts. Furthermore, I am invested in overseeing and acting upon feedback from all members of our student body, as their voices are integral to shaping our direction. My vision is to ensure that every student experiences a sense of inclusion and support within the UPA. In addition to effective leadership, I aim to bring a creative, organized vision that resonates with every student. By promoting and communicating the values and opportunities of the UPA, I will work towards realizing the full potential of the UPA and elevate its impact on our academic community.”

🔹 Anny Kwon
“Hi everyone, my name is Anny! As the Vice-President Finance of the UPA for the past year, I have a firm understanding of the values and goals the UPA uphold for all undergraduate psychology as well as neuroscience students at the UofA. As the VP Finance, I got to be a part of planning and budgeting of various events and activities for the students and I strongly value the connection and opportunities the UPA provides for its students and faculty. If provided the opportunity to be the next Co-Chair or VP Finance of the UPA in the coming year, I will commit to continually providing quality support and assistance to my fellow executive members. As a result of my past knowledge and experience as a student-leader, I am confident in my ability to carry on the outstanding work of the UPA for another successful year. In the upcoming year I plan to continue to promote a welcoming environment and community and provide further support for my fellow executives to offer diverse and engaging activities/events to all undergraduate students in psychology and neuroscience. Thank you for your consideration.”

🔹Mehak Sekhon
“As a third-year psychology student, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute positively as an executive for the Undergraduate Psychology Association. My volunteer experiences in psychology-related fields include non-profits focused on raising mental health awareness, senior home assistance, involvement in text-line support services, and participation in youth programs. I am deeply interested in promoting equitable opportunities for minorities and recognizing the experiences of the diaspora. My passion for psychology has prepared me to foster engagement and cultivate a vibrant student community within the UPA.
My past experiences in executive roles have given me valuable skills in leadership, organization, and communication. My gained abilities include facilitating meetings, creating agendas, and ensuring smooth communication within the community. As Vice President of Administration, I will bring attention to detail and expert coordination abilities to streamline operations within the UPA.
Due to my dedication and passion, I am committed to making a positive impact within the UPA. I am excited about the opportunity to build connections and use my expertise to foster a vibrant community within the Undergraduate Psychology Association.”

🔹 Sydney Monilaws
“Many of my goals remain the same whether I should be elected as Vice President Administration or Vice President Volunteers. In both positions I would be organized, communicate timely, connect the UPA and psychology students with other organizations and opportunities, and ultimately work to ensure psychology students feel connected to their peers, their campus, and supported by their UPA.
If elected Vice President Volunteers, I would build on what I have started this past year. I would continue providing volunteer opportunities to the volunteer committee and strive to connect the volunteer committee with psychology related volunteer opportunities which was something I was unable to do this past year. Additionally, I would find better ways to engage those involved in the peer mentorship program throughout the academic year. Lastly, I would make better and more attempts at organizing social opportunities for volunteers (including mentors and mentees in the peer mentorship program) as this would help build community among psychology students given that the psychology community at the U of A is quite large.”

🔹 Gurleen Sangha
“My name is Gurleen and I am a third-year Psychology major. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the Undergraduate Psychology Association as either VP Volunteers or VP Social. My goals for these positions stem from my experience in volunteering and community engagement.
Furthermore, my substantial volunteer experience at the Alberta hospital over the past two years, coupled with my current role in a neurology clinic, has equipped me with valuable skills in project management, communication, and team leadership. In the role of VP Social, I aspire to leverage these skills to plan engaging social events and foster a sense of community among UPA members. My experience ensures that I am well-prepared to handle responsibilities such as conducting risk assessments and securing contracts with companies for student benefits.
My blend of academic knowledge, volunteer experience within the UPA, and extensive community engagement make me a strong candidate for either VP Volunteers or VP Social. I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to the association, contributing to its further growth.”

🔹 Adrianna Gawryluk
“As a 4th year student in the psychology program, it would be my honour and privilege to participate on the executive. I am excited about the opportunities that are available in this position: As VP Academic I would like to focus on learning strategies for students. As a current tutor, I have experienced how the database works and would like to expand on the areas that are working and put effort into areas that could be improved. I would like to partner with areas on campus like the Learning Strategies centre to prove better academic support to students. This could be done through academic evens, meet the tutor or a combined event with Learning Strategies.”
