Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch We're a non-profit organization working to prevent crime in Edmonton. Every community in Edmonton is encouraged to have a Community Representative!

By connecting and working in partnership with communities, we work together to keep Edmontonians safe. We are a volunteer, not-for-profit organization promoting crime prevention in our Edmonton communities. The Community Representative would communicate with Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch to determine the best possible programs for your community. Governance:
- ENW is governed by a Board of Directors. Board Members are elected for a two year term in alternating years. An annual general meeting is held once a year.
- Special meetings of the membership are called as needed to discuss significant matters.

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, supported and valued.

Throughout October, we join organizations and communities across Alberta in raising awareness about the importance of supporting children and families and creating environments where children can thrive.
At the Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Program Society, we believe strong, connected communities play an important role in helping families feel supported and children feel safe.

This month, we encourage everyone to and help raise awareness for the well-being and safety of children in our communities.

Today, October 1, we join Canadians across the country in celebrating older adults and recognizing the meaningful contributions they continue to make to our families, neighbourhoods and communities.

At the Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Program Society, we are grateful for the seniors who share their knowledge and experience, look out for their neighbours, volunteer their time and help make our communities stronger and more connected.
National Seniors Day is also a wonderful reminder to reach out. Say hello, make a call, spend some time together, lend a helping hand, or simply say thank you to an older adult who has made a difference in your life.

On behalf of the President and Board of Directors of The Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Program Society.

Mervin Swityk is remembered with deep respect and gratitude for his longstanding dedication to community safety and his meaningful contributions to the Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Program Society. As a past President, Mervin played a pivotal role in strengthening neighbourhood connections, promoting crime‑prevention awareness, and fostering a culture of vigilance and care across Edmonton’s communities.

Mervin’s passing on September 18, 2026, is felt profoundly by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His legacy endures in the safer, more connected communities he helped shape and in the countless individuals he inspired through his service.

His leadership was marked by integrity, commitment, and a genuine belief in the power of neighbours supporting neighbours. Through his guidance, ENW advanced its mission, expanded its reach, and continued building the foundation that supports the organization today.

We honour his memory with gratitude, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his dedication to community safety.
