Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite you to take a moment to reflect on what it means to live in Lansdowne, on land that has been home to Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial.
We often speak of what belongs to us, our homes, our neighborhoods, our green spaces, yet it’s important to remember this land has always been, and continues to be, the homeland of Indigenous Peoples who have cared for it for generations.
As settlers, we are invited to see ourselves not as owners, but as caretakers. We share a responsibility to honour the land, to listen, and to ensure that our choices reflect respect and humility.
As we think about how we shape our neighborhood’s future, may we remember that reconciliation begins with understanding stewardship not as possession, but as care, connection, and shared responsibility.
