In November 2025, three women completed the diploma course in tailoring and have already begun earning income by stitching pre-ordered garments such as wedding gowns, traditional attire, and
school uniforms.
In January 2026, Manipur Women Literacy stitched 10 school uniforms for female teachers. The center is now looking forward to taking up more orders for school uniforms in the near future.
Although the task ahead may be challenging, the women who have already been trained are confident and capable of handling larger production orders.
In 2026, an additional 10 tailoring machines were gifted by MOMC, which will further strengthen the training program and enable the center to train more women at the same time.
With the increase in equipment and the growing demand for stitched garments, the tailoring center also looks forward to hiring more trained women for small-scale production work.
Currently, the women who have completed training are earning an income by stitching garments such as ladies’ salwars and tops. On average, they are paid between INR 200 and INR 300 per
piece, depending on the design and complexity of the work.
This year, more women are expected to complete their diploma training and enter the production field, further strengthening the initiative and creating more livelihood opportunities for women in
the community.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mission of Mercy Canada (MOMC) and all the generous donors for their continued support of the Manipur Women Literacy program. Through
their kindness and contributions, nearly 100 women have been blessed and trained through various education and skill development initiatives. Their support has helped empower women with knowledge, practical skills, and new opportunities for livelihood.
We deeply appreciate your commitment to uplifting and strengthening our community.
