A: I like apples … B: I like pears
A: I like tigers … B: I like bears

We don't agree on anything

A: I like sharing. Sharing's fine! … B: You like sharing? You'd share your treat?

Well then, at last we all agree! I'll share with you! You share with me!

Inspired by "I Like" from Mary Ann Hoberman’s book You Read to Me, I'll Read to You: Very Short Stories to Read Together.

We all have something in common, shared humanity, shared values …

Ask yourself …

Does this proposal ensure fairness and dignity for all?

Does this proposal solve a real issue, and does it address the root cause of that issue?

What path best addresses our frustrations while protecting stability, prosperity and democratic relationships?

Does this proposal strengthen our communities, democratic relationship, and long term stability?

On Sunday, October 4th, we will celebrate community together in the culmination of our "Together Not Alone" mini retreat. At that gathering, we will honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by remembering the 1986 United Church apology to First Nations, taking time to acknowledge missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two Spirit people, and committing to taking action to end this continuing epidemic of violence.

You are invited to wear an Orange Shirt to mark this day.

The Art of Community series continues. Week 3: The Rituals Principle, with GUEST SPEAKER Rev. Kevin W. Jagoe.

Rituals are used to mark transitions, new identities, and to remember moments in one's life or the passage of time. They can create belonging, mark the boundaries of community, assist in identity formation, and provide a way to tell the stories of both who and whose we are.

Rev. Kevin W. Jagoe will join us by livestream to share this week's reflection in exploring how rituals help us navigate our lives and connect our individual threads to those all around us.

See more about Kevin here: https://americanhumanist.org/team/jagoe/
Each week has two components: a Sunday morning gathering that introduces the chapter’s theme, and a midweek online book study (Thursdays at 1pm MT) that takes the conversation deeper.

The Sunday reflections at 10am are designed to stand on their own, so no reading required!
