We are thrilled to celebrate our very own Founder and Executive Director, Ida Beltran Lucila, on her appointment as Edmonton’s 10th Historian Laureate (2026–2028)!

Presented by the Edmonton City Council, this prestigious designation honours individuals dedicated to researching, documenting, and interpreting the diverse people, places, and events that shape our city’s vibrant identity.

As Historian Laureate, Ida will build upon her visionary work with the Philippine Arts Council, specifically the Echoes of Identity: Tracking Filipino Cultural Landscapes in Edmonton project. This groundbreaking cultural map has been a vital tool in preserving the stories, migration narratives, and cultural heritage of our community. In her new role, Ida aims to share this expertise, helping other communities across Edmonton create their own cultural maps to document their unique histories.

Please join us in congratulating Ida on this incredible achievement! We are so proud to see her passion for storytelling and cultural preservation recognized on such a significant stage.

Congratulations to all involved in the launch of HILOM, Issue 17 of The Polyglot. A powerful reminder that while grief can often feel like a solitary path, it doesn’t have to be walked alone.

When shared through the beauty of poetry, prose and art, it is transformed into a deep celebration of life.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Join the Philippine Stage at Kaleido Family Arts Festival 2026!

The Philippine Arts Council is thrilled to partner again with the Kaleido Family Arts Festival this September 18–20! We are looking for passionate performers to help us showcase the beauty and talent of the Filipino community on one of the city’s most iconic stages.

🎶 The Vibe: Authentic, live, and unplugged!
To keep things soulful and organic, all vocal performances must be accompanied by live instruments (guitar, keys, etc.) or performed a ca****la. No backing tracks—just pure talent! Recorded tracks allowed only for dance and choreographed numbers.

As the clock strikes midnight, we celebrate the bridge that art builds between us. The Philippine Arts Council wishes a prosperous 2026 to the hands that create and the eyes that behold.

To the artists: May your inspiration never run dry.
To the public: May you find solace, joy, and reflection in the works of our artists.

Together, we are the authors of the Philippine story. Let us make the next chapter a masterpiece. Manigong Bagong Taon! Happy New Year!

We were honoured to attend the Town Hall and officially welcome the new Philippine Ambassador to Canada, H. E. Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga.

Beyond the meet-and-greet, it was a dynamic platform to interact with the representatives of various Filipino organizations and businesses.

A special thank you to Consul General Emma Sarne for highlighting the Philippine Arts Council’s work on the cultural map.

Cheers to the hardworking organizers for the successful event: Philippine Consulate General Calgary, Yakap Alberta, Benjie Lindo and Mharian Bohol!

Celebrate Heritage and Harmony

This Thanksgiving, the Philippine Arts Council is thankful for the tapestry of cultures that enrich our community!

Art is the bridge that connects us all. Whether it’s the graceful movement of a folk dance or the vibrant colours of a painting, culture gives us a way to share our stories, traditions, and humanity.

We invite the wider community to celebrate the universal spirit of gratitude, fellowship, and creativity this holiday. May your celebration be filled with joy, and may we continue to weave our stories together through the power of the arts.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
