Elmwood Community League acts on behalf of our members and offers programs and services to reflect the community's needs, interests, and diversity. ECL brings neighbours together to provide recreational and social programs, develop and maintain amenities such as Elmwood Community Hall, skating rinks, playground, spray park, and the skate shack. The Elmwood community is on Treaty 6 territory. Treat

y 6 is the territory of the nehiyaw, Stoney Nakota, Nakota Sioux, Annishnabe, Iroquois and Dene as well as occupies Metis land. We humbly admit that we are learning what it means to be on Treaty territory and unceded land. We know there is still important work that needs to be done to honor the treaties. Indigenous histories, languages, and cultures influence our community, and we are grateful to be in relationship with the people & land of this territory.

The City of Edmonton is starting the annual Spring Sweep to clear debris and dust from roads, bike lanes, and major pathways.

Residents and businesses must remove parked vehicles from roadways to give crews the space needed to safely clear sand and debris from city boulevards and streets.

Major Roadways:

Crews began Major Roadways (arterial, collector roads, and Business Improvement Areas) street sweeping on April 8.

There will be no Major Roadway Parking Ban declared for this work. Unlike snow removal, sweeping on major roadways typically occurs at night, when fewer vehicles are parked.

Residential Roadways:

Sweeping of Residential Roadways will begin on April 20 and continue through June 1, depending on the weather.

Residential roadways will be cleared on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

This schedule reduces noise and disruption while also supporting parking during evenings and weekends. Sweeping on arterials and boulevards continues to occur during the evening and overnight hours to reduce interference with traffic.

A Parking Ban will be in effect on Residential Roadways during their scheduled week.

The Parking Ban is active only during the day (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) for the week indicated for each neighbourhood.

Enforcement will be ticketing vehicles; no vehicles will be towed. Fines are $250 per vehicle.

Sweeping may begin at any time during the scheduled week and the schedule is subject to change.

There are three ways to know when your neighbourhood is scheduled for sweeping:

1. The sweeping schedule and status of all roadways are updated daily on the Street Sweeping Map at gis.edmonton.ca/SpringSweep.

2. Temporary signage indicating the dates of the Parking Ban will be placed in each neighbourhood at least 24 hours in advance. Signs will be located at main entrances of the neighbourhood and not every roadway will have a sign.

3. Subscribers to Service Notifications will receive communications with the schedule and completion status of their location(s).

For more information, visit edmonton.ca/StreetSweeping.
