We’re looking for dedicated educators who are passionate about supporting youth in their academic journey. 📚 If you have strong knowledge in core K–12 subjects, experience teaching or tutoring, and are fluent in English, we’d love to hear from you.

We had such a great time at our recent “Learn About Waste & Recycling” session ♻️

Led by Ake from the Waste Education and Outreach team at the City of Edmonton, what could’ve been a complicated topic turned into a fun, in teractive, and super useful conversation. From sorting waste the right way to learning what actually happens after you toss something out, there were so many “I didn’t know that!” moments.

It was especially meaningful to create a space where newcomers could ask questions, share experiences, and leave feeling more confident navigating everyday life in Edmonton. Huge thanks to Ake for bringing the energy and making it so engaging!

Alhamdulillah, our Somaliland Community Iftar yesterday was a beautiful evening of unity, bringing together officials, community leaders, youth leaders, and community members.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers and everyone who attended and supported the event. Your dedication and generosity made the night truly special.
We are especially grateful to David Shepherd, MLA for Edmonton-City Centre for his generous support and donations toward our Community Iftar, Sharif Haji and Anne Stevenson . Your continued support means so much to our community.

Today, KULAN and FOCAS Canada came together to celebrate Black History Month with a meaningful community gathering. The event honored the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders and communities while creating space for reflection, dialogue, and connection.
We were inspired by the powerful speech by MLA downtown David Shepherd conversations, shared stories, and the strong sense of unity in the room. Events like this remind us of the importance of uplifting Black voices, celebrating culture, and continuing the work toward equity and inclusion.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event impactful and memorable. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more inclusive community.
