Exciting news, Highlands! Things are moving fast with Hall Renewal. Site demolition mobilization begins tomorrow, May 22, 2026. This is a reminder to stay out of the fenced area as it is an active construction site.

While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the old space, this marks the exciting start of bringing a new, modern community space to life.

🚧Changes are coming to the Yellowhead Trail and 66 Street. 🚧

🚫⛔️66 Street Intersection Removal
The concept plan for 66 Street incorporates an overpass at Yellowhead Trail; however, there are no timelines for the overpass construction. As part of the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion, which requires the removal of all traffic signals along the corridor to improve traffic flow and safety, the City is removing the signalized intersection at 66 Street and nearby direct accesses.

📍Highlands Community League Annual General Meeting will occur on Saturday, May 2, 2026 in Highlands Park (11225 62 Street). Lunch starts at 12 pm, AGM starts at 12:30 pm.

👉We need you! A number of positions will be up for election this year including: President, Vice President, Facilities, Casino, Secretary, Soccer/Sports, Rentals, Treasurer, Events, Civics, and Communications.

🚨The Highlands Community League is excited to announce that our hall is officially closed as we begin building a brand new space.🚨

🚧This marks a significant milestone in our community and we cannot wait to see the new accessible, functional yet modest space come to life. Watch the space transform over the coming months as fencing is set up, and construction mobilization begins.

⏭️What’s next?
- Programs have been moved to temporary locations or with different operations (huge thank you to our partners at Concordia University of Edmonton and Bellevue Community League!)
- Demolition preparations begin April 2026
- Construction anticipated to start summer 2026
- New hall anticipated to open Winter 2027
- Final landscaping to be completed summer 2027
