Every year numerous people are injured, and on average 2-3 people are killed in North America, while rappelling or being lowered on sport routes. This presentation will focus on how this has happened, the evolving nature of these accidents over the years and importantly, how to prevent them from happening.

“In the evening, we gorged ourselves on a huge potluck, with dishes ranging from meatballs to quinoia salad and pierogies/kielbasa. A number of people availed themselves of the wood-fired sauna before turning in for the night.”

Throwback to January when we kicked off the annual Ice Retreat. We took over Rampart Creek hostel, did some ice climbing and shared some amazing food. It’s all about getting like minded people together, getting outdoors and doing things we love.

Winter isn’t over yet! If you’ve been thinking about trying some steep stuff before the season finishes, nows the time! Thanks to , we’ve got a steep ice clinic with .ethan at the end of the month. Get it before the season finishes!!!

Registration closes in a few days so sign up today!

From early mountaineers in the Rockies and on glaciers in the Yukon St. Elias, artists at the Banff School of Fine Arts, to women on ski adventures in Banff and Jasper, her talk explores the history of the Canadian mountain west to understand people, places, and ideas. Featuring mountain landscapes and rare archival photographs, this account travels through time and reimagines mountain memory.

Mountaineering Women with Joanna Croston

In celebration of International Women’s Day, join author Joanna Croston as she presents Mountaineering Women, a richly illustrated collection of the astonishing and often surprising stories that celebrate the achievements of twenty women climbers, spanning both history and the globe. Even though women have a pronounced and rich history in the sport, they are conspicuously absent from mountaineering literature. As adventure pursuits like climbing and mountaineering continue to gain popularity, women’s visibility in those sports has also come under the spotlight. Croston’s book presentation is followed by a Q&A with author and a book signing.

Tickets available for purchase on eventbrite. Check out our calendar for more details.

Join us for a talk with Tom Fransham, ACC Capital Projects Manager, as he shares updates on the Robson Pass Hut and other exciting work with the ACC Hut System.

From humble beginnings, offering just six backcountry huts in the early 1970s, the ACC now services an invaluable hut network of over 26 huts across the Rockies.

As the demand to serve the mountain community continues to grow, so too do the challenges of maintaining an extensive hut network, local community hub, and growing non-profit organization on nearly the same physical framework and facilities footprint that the Club did all those years ago.

Drinks and snacks are available for purchase.
