September 28th is a day of many emotions for our family.
It’s a day when we celebrate the opening of Amy’s House in 2019, while also feeling the loss of Amy and missing her a little more, as September 28th was also her birthday.

Although we miss Amy dearly, her dream of one day taking care of families travelling great distances to Edmonton for cancer treatments continues to grow.

This September 28th, we received an incredible birthday gift. Karen Chester, President of Vallen Canada, presented us with a cheque for $50,357.51, raised through Vallen’s annual golf tournament.

We were honoured to be nominated as the recipient thanks to Carmen Dragan Sima, who works at Vallen. Carmen and our children shared the same elementary school while Amy was fighting cancer, and it is incredibly meaningful to us that, even years later, that school community continues to care for our family and help carry Amy’s dream forward.

The support we have received has transformed Amy’s dream of one home into three homes, and with the continued generosity of our community, we hope to do so much more for so many more families.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible community of Edmonton and the surrounding areas. Your kindness, generosity and continued support mean more to our family than words can express.

Thank you so much, Vallen Canada, Karen, Carmen, and everyone who participated in and supported the golf tournament.

You are helping Amy’s dream continue to grow, and we are so incredibly grateful.

Fall has always been such an important time for fundraising at Amy’s House, with Run On happening every year. But this year …Wow — check this out!

Wilmer B**g , Chris-Anne, and Holly with Alberta Carpet Cleaners are taking on Climbing for Change all day, climbing the equivalent elevation gain of Mount Everest!

Climbing for Change does incredible work, challenging participants to climb up and down Rabbit Hill Ski Resort while raising money for the charity of their choice.

And thanks to this incredible team — Team Hill Yeah! — they’ve raised over $8,000 for Amy’s House!!!

Absolutely unreal.

Congratulations and THANK YOU for taking on this incredible challenge and supporting Amy’s House! We are so grateful for your dedication, your energy, and your generosity.

Over $27,000 raised!! Thank you all so much for supporting Amy’s house!!

Sometimes I sit back in awe that what started as a small flicker of hope amidst our grief, has turned into a force so much bigger than we ever imagined.

This is not just our story anymore. This race has been adopted by the 50km racer who stayed in Amy’s House two years ago, the half marathoner who’s family got to stay together last year during treatment, the cancer survivor that ran 50k after a mastectomy this summer, the families and friends that ran in the wake of their own grief, the 6 year old that sprinted the last few meters of her first ever 5k while we all cheered, the finishers who didn’t know if they could, and now believe they can.

The gentleman that was walking by race site, and passed me a cash donation, unable to speak through his tears.

He’s got a story I’m sure.

So from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you. Thank you for being a part of the big, beautiful, messy, sweaty story of Run On.

Together, we’ve raised $27 000 and counting.

We are so honoured to showcase, on the medals you’ll receive this year at Run On, the fabulous artwork of four talented Alberta artists: Julie Kaldenhoven, Tammy Taylor, Karoll Brinton, and Jani Galarneau.
Thank you to everyone who is running with us this year, and a very special thank you to these incredible artists for sharing their beautiful work and helping make this year’s medals so meaningful.

It’s shaping up to be a beautiful day this Sunday for RUN ON!
RUN ON isn’t just about aiming for your personal best. It’s also a great opportunity to bring your family, walk the 5 km course, enjoy the beautiful Edmonton River Valley, and spend a wonderful morning together.

This beautiful stone carving was created by Stephen Yettaw as a gift for Amy’s House, and it is absolutely stunning! ❤️
We are so grateful for this generous gift, but we’ve run into a bit of a challenge: getting this incredible piece from Stephen’s farm to Amy’s House.

The sculpture weighs over 1,000 pounds, so we would likely need someone with a picker truck, crane truck, or similar equipment who could safely pick it up, transport it, and then help place it in the right spot at our home.

If you know of someone who might be able to help — or a company that does this type of work — we would be incredibly grateful for any recommendations or connections!
