The Rotaract Club of Edmonton is a group of young adults dedicated to addressing poverty and climate change in Edmonton. Our club addresses these issues through volunteering and project work. To alleviate poverty we have volunteered at the Edmonton Food Bank and are currently volunteering at the Green and Gold Community Garden. To address climate change we began
by educating ourselves about the root causes of climate change. We learned that food waste plays a major role in contributing to climate change, and decided to make this our first area of focus. We are hosting a food waste speaker event on September 23, 2020 to improve the accessibility of this information to those interested in learning about this topic. Our club meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 7pm online via Zoom. We volunteer at the garden on weeks that we are not meeting.
