Madonna Elementary School and St. Theresa Jr. High School recently had the opportunity to take part in a ball hockey session coached by former Edmonton Oiler Ladislav Šmíd.

It was a great experience for students to learn the game, build new skills, and stay active while having fun. A fantastic way to wrap up our SWIS sessions for the school year.

🧠 Action for Healthy Communities (AHC) is hiring Mental Health Service Providers!

We are seeking qualified independent contractors through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process to deliver short-term, culturally responsive, trauma-informed counselling through our mental health support.

This role includes:
🔹 Short-term individual counselling (typically 60-minute sessions; ~4+ sessions per client, up to ~80 sessions depending on demand)
🔹 Group facilitation & psychoeducational workshops
🔹 Case consultations, referrals & integrated team support
🔹 Clinical documentation, including intake, consent, and risk assessments in AHC’s digital platform
🔹 Compliance with Alberta privacy legislation and professional standards
🔹 Virtual and in-person service delivery

Ideal candidates are currently registered and in good standing with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., psychologist, social worker, counsellor, therapist), with experience in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice. Experience working with newcomers and refugees is an asset.

💙 AHC provides intake coordination, administrative support, interpretation services (where available), onboarding, case management systems, and clinical supervision/coordination.
