Leaving the Soil Richer

What does it mean to leave an artistic community better than you found it?
For NUOVA alumnus Matthew Dalen, the answer begins in a childhood choir in Grande Prairie and follows a remarkable journey through opera, mentorship, and the people who believed in him along the way.

In our latest alumni reflection, Matthew shares how NUOVA helped shape not only the artist he became, but his understanding of what it means to give back.
It’s a moving reminder that the greatest legacy of the arts isn’t simply the performances we create, but the people we inspire and the opportunities we leave for those who follow.
