✨ A huge congratulations to Jade Stelkovics on winning 1st place in Scaffolding at the National Apprenticeship Competition! 🏆👏

Not only did Jade place top in her trade, bringing the trophy home to Alberta, but she also made history as the first female competitor to win Scaffolding at NAC. 🙌

This accomplishment showcased Jade’s skill, determination, hard work, and dedication to her trade. She is an inspiration to current and future generations of women in the trades. 👷‍♀️🛠️

Today, we take time to honour the children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this history.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day to listen, learn, and reflect. It is also a reminder that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that calls on all of us to deepen our understanding and strengthen our relationships with Indigenous Peoples.

As we recognize Gender Equality Week, we're proud to support women pursuing careers in the skilled trades and to advocate for workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Let's celebrate the achievements of women in trades while continuing to advance inclusion, opportunity, and representation across the industry.

Happy Gender Equality Week!

This week is a time to celebrate progress, recognize the achievements of women and gender-diverse people, and reflect on the work that remains to build a more equitable Canada.

Over the past 50 years, Canada has taken important steps toward gender equality, including expanding reproductive rights, legalizing same-sex marriage, supporting women’s participation and leadership in the workforce, investing in efforts to prevent and address gender-based violence, and advancing equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

While significant progress has been made, barriers still exist. Gender pay gaps, caregiving responsibilities, and unequal representation in leadership continue to affect women’s economic opportunities. That’s why conversations about women in the economy are really conversations about gender equality!
