Congratulations to Judy, a long-time dedicated Guiding member!

Last, but certainly not least, especially if you know our final award winner. As we close out our Citizen of the Year Spotlight, we want to take a moment to recognize our Mayor's Distinguished Award winner.

The epitome of what it means to be a Laker. Her contributions to our community have left, and will continue to leave, positive impacts for many years to come.

This year's Mayor's Distinguished Award winner - Judy Scanland.

New Guiding-themed colouring greeting cards!🎨

Our provincial Marketing & Communications team is so proud to launch these colouring card designs. Give them a try for your unit or for recruitment tabling!

For recruitment tabling events, print the card files, and invite youth to the table to colour one in. Encourage the child to give the card to a special adult in their life, to promote adult recruitment. Each card file has a QR code on the reverse that leads to the Girl Guides website.

The files are available on the ANY Council website, under Membership, under Support.

Girl Guides members ages 18-25 are invited to apply to the Helen Storrow Seminar in Switzerland!

This international development event will bring Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from across the globe to Our Chalet, a World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Word Centre in Switzerland. Once there, members will experience a seven-day seminar to learn about environmental sustainability and leadership.

Here's what last year's participant, Sara, had to say about her experience:

"While each country faces unique circumstances, sharing perspectives strengthened our ability to adapt solutions within our own communities. I left the seminar with a renewed appreciation for the Guiding sisterhood, stronger leadership skills grounded in the WAGGGS leadership mindsets, and greater confidence in facilitating brave and inclusive spaces."

Applications close on May 19.

The ANY Marketing & Communications Committee was delighted to welcome Helen Cashman to their monthly planning meeting to share her experiences from her role as GGC Guiding Ambassador. Thank you, Helen!

It was so inspiring to hear her cross-Canada stories about Sisterhood, connection, and belonging for Guiding members. We felt newly energized to finish off the 2026 year strong!

We are proud to premiere the Year End 2025 video, showcasing all the fun and friendships created across Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Yukon in 2025!

Sharing a huge shout-out to the ANY Youth Forum members for producing this awesome Olympics-themed video. This video was premiered live at the ANY Council AGM and banquet, and it was a huge hit with the audience, especially the humorous interruptions from the sponsors! Congratulations to Ada, Lucy, and Nora for their hard work in creating this heartfelt review of Guiding memories in 2025.
