Congratulations to our sister Helen Agbonison, for a brilliant and successful Taste of Africa 2026! This 7th Black History Month event, which was held in Arden Theatre, was another sold-out event. Taste of Africa continues to be a fun, insightful and engaging jamboree, which not only celebrates Black History, but also captures Black Excellence, Black Diversity and Black Businesses.

Congratulations to the Africans & African Descendants Friendship Club of St. Albert, to her founder, our Akwa Ibom sister, eyeneka nnyin, Helen and to her supportive husband, our brother, Sir Idy Agbonison.

AKISAN Edmonton, in collaboration with the Nigerian Canadian Association of Edmonton held a Black History Month Event on 21 February 2026. The BHM event included a documentary screening on Black Canadian History, a Panel Discussion on Interrogating Black History and a presentation by a Police Officer.

The National President of AKISAN Canada Inc., Akparawa Udoh Christopher, generously supported two students from Akwa Ibom State with $100 worth of groceries each at the just-concluded Black History Month event held in Edmonton, Alberta.

The event was organized in conjunction with the AKISAN Edmonton Chapter and Nigerian Canadian Association of Edmonton (NCAE).

This kind gesture by the National President will go a long way in encouraging our students and letting them know that we at AKISAN Canada Inc. truly care about and support them.

Akwa Ibomites are hard working, hospitable, and kind people. We are also known to be phenomenal Chefs and have a few fantastic meals that are the rave of Nigerians from other tribes. I dare to say that at the top of the food chain of Akwa Ibom delicacies stands Ekpang Nkukwo.

Day 1 of AKISAN Cultural Days saw our distinguished Chef Aniema Joseph prepare Ekpang Nkukwo that made our forefathers proud! She also taught the audience how to prepare this sensational dish.

Day 1 of AKISAN Edmonton Cultural Days saw attendees enjoying an Akwa Ibom classic meal, Afia Efere Ebot ye Usung Bia (White Soup with Goat Meat and Pounded yam).

In classic Chef Aniema Joseph's style, she blew it out of the park! Efere ama anem tutu (the soup was very delicious)! Chef Aniema also gave the audience a lesson on how to prepare this meal.
