Letting go of clutter is not always easy, especially when so many items hold memories and meaning. As we get older, our belongings can bring comfort, nostalgia, and a sense of continuity, which can make decluttering feel overwhelming. đź’›

By understanding why letting go can be difficult and using simple tools like the Four-Box Method, we can help make the process feel more manageable, less stressful, and safer for seniors. 📦✨

Learning doesn’t stop with age. This research highlights how prior knowledge can shape memory in older adults in both helpful and challenging ways — sometimes supporting accurate recall, and sometimes leading to memory errors. Overall, it reminds us to take a more balanced, “glass-half-full” view of aging and memory. 🧠✨

Your brain loves movement more than you think 🧠✨ Exercise can help support memory, learning, brain plasticity, and even immune health as we age. A little movement can go a long way!

A “home from home” 💜 Hogewey is an award-winning dementia village in the Netherlands that is changing the way people think about dementia care. From familiar daily routines to a neighbourhood-style environment, every part of the village is designed to help residents feel included, comfortable, and at home. Such an inspiring example of how care can be both compassionate and creative 🌷✨

People living with dementia may face barriers to giving informed consent, such as complex information, medical jargon, time pressure, and cognitive overload. This does not mean their voice should be ignored. By using plain language, visual supports, and a person-centred approach, we can better support decision-making and protect autonomy. 🧠💛

This post takes a look at three major debates that shaped how Alzheimer’s disease was understood over time. It’s interesting to see how ideas changed, and how research helped people realize that Alzheimer’s is a distinct disease rather than just a normal part of aging 🧠💜

Last week, Project Care held a music therapy event, and it was a great reminder of how powerful music can be. Since we do music therapy events regularly, learning how music can support memory, emotion, and connection in individuals with Alzheimer’s makes these experiences even more meaningful. 💜🎶

This research shows that aging doesn’t lead to drastic or predictable changes in behaviour, instead, it evolves over time.

Older adults are active shoppers 🛍️, often just as engaged in spending and trends as younger consumers. They value experiences, shop socially 👥, and make thoughtful decisions, especially when given the time to process information ⏳

Even more interesting: how “old” someone feels matters more than their actual age 🧠
Marketing that directly labels people as “old” can actually push them away!

Understanding these patterns is key to breaking stereotypes and better connecting with an often overlooked market ✨
