The Hall and Grounds Renewal Committee like to announce that Emily Chu has been selected for the indoor mural project at the newly renovated Strathcona Community League Hall!

More about Emily:

Emily Chu is a local illustrator, visual artist, and community organizer. Her arts practice spans commercial illustration, murals and public art, storytelling, sketching, and community-based arts initiatives. Emily’s murals can be found at the Alberta Craft Gallery & Shop, Fringe Theatre, the Edmonton Chinatown Multi-Cultural Centre, ATB (Downtown and Red Deer), Fringe Grounds, Millennium Place, to name a few.

Outside of creating, Emily also is the founder and co-organizer of Together Chinatown Arts Festival, and Chinatown Stories Map.

As a proud resident of Strathcona, she is very excited to create a mural for our community!

Emily would like to hear feedback from the community on how we would like the mural to take shape. Fill out this google questionnaire by June 30th, and have your thoughts heard!

Strathcona Centre Community League is excited to announce the opening of our mini Skate Park on Saturday, June 13 at 6pm.

The Skate Park is located on the south part of the asphalt area near the rink/courts and will feature obstacles focused on entry-level fun!
10140 86 Ave

The Park is a collaborative effort between the Community League, former resident Cecil Israel, and members of the local skate community. Cecil brought the idea to the League and worked with people in the skate community to help make it happen.

This season will be a trial period to see how the skate park operates, with a review planned for the October board meeting.

Join us on Saturday and throughout the summer during the posted hours of operation. Other guidelines for the Park are posted onsite.

It’s That Time Of Year Again! The BIG BIN EVENT is back so bring any large items that you have been itching to liberate from your home.

If you have furniture, yard waste, renovation materials, and electronics, then come on over.

In an effort to divert useful items from the landfill, we will also be running a freecycling event again this year. We are always happy to see unwanted items find a new life with someone else.

Items we cannot accept are:
Commercial Waste
Gas Powered Equipment (such as lawn mowers and snow blowers)
Household hazardous waste (such as automotive fluids, batteries, chemicals, paint or stains or other hazardous items)

We also ask that you take tires and appliances such as fridges, freezers, dishwashers, and washer/dryers to an Eco Station.

A Strathcona Centre Community League membership is required to participate.
Bring your membership cards or verify with our membership list on site. If you don’t have one or want to renew, we can do that onsite.
Memberships are Family-$20, Single-$15, Senior-$5.
You can also purchase a membership through the link in our bio.
