Sustainability in Agriculture Discovery Day 🌱

Students in SW Alberta had an amazing day exploring sustainability in action on March 20!
From learning how milk is processed after it leaves the dairy at Vital Greens, to how it is transformed into products like cheese and yogurt.

Then at Earthly Matters, students got hands-on with vermiculture, touching worms and seeing how worm castings are separated to support healthy soil.

At Carabao Mercado , students explored a tropical greenhouse filled with fresh fruit (that a few tried) and towering banana trees, experiencing a unique side of agriculture right here in Southern Alberta.

Each stop included important information on their safety processes supporting our learning during Agriculture Safety Week!

Huge thank you to our hosts and students for a great day!

Great news!

More funding is now available to help young Albertans get their first job.

An extra $4M towards The Alberta Youth Employment Incentive means more opportunities for youth to gain experience, earn a paycheque and build confidence for their future.

We’re proud to be part of making those first chances happen, because one opportunity can change everything!

Thanks Joseph Schow for making this incentive happen, and Patricia Street Deli and Bar for for the amazing venue for today's announcement.

The 2026 Who BILDs It Best competition was action-packed🛠️🪚

High school students from the Southern Alberta Collegiate Institute’s dual credit program went head-to-head in a live building challenge at the Southern Alberta Home, Garden & Leisure Show in Lethbridge last week.

Working in teams of two, students had just 75 minutes to build a wooden crate using only the hand tools and materials provided.

A big thank you to BILD - Lethbridge Region for hosting this great event and for supporting the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
