We’re Halfway Through Kokum’s Circle! 🩷

What a beautiful couple of sessions it’s been! We’ve been having so much fun connecting, laughing, sharing stories, and learning from one another. We’re so grateful for the connections we’ve made and can’t wait for our next two sessions!

📣 We have some exciting updates!

📍 NEW ROOM: We’ll now be gathering in Room 440 on the fourth floor of The Orange Hub. (Stairs and Elevator access by YTC)

⏰ EXTENDED HOURS: We’ve extended our time together! Our next sessions will run from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

🌿 There’s still room to join us! Whether you love beading, knitting, sewing, crocheting, or simply spending time in good company, we welcome you to come share in the joy of crafting, connection, and community.

Introducing ICAA’s Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) Job Readiness Program!

The Indigenous Congress of Alberta Association (ICAA) is pleased to introduce our upcoming ISET Job Readiness Program, designed to support urban First Nation, Inuit and Métis people in strengthening their employment skills and preparing for future career opportunities.

Through job-readiness supports, participants can work toward their employment goals, build confidence, and develop practical skills to take the next step in their career journey.

✨ Potential supports may include:
✅Life Skills & Job Coaching
✅Crisis Intervention/ Prevention Training
✅Safety Certification
✅Resume/ Cover Letter Building
✅Career Testing / Assessment
✅Follow-up Supports

Requirement:
✔ Must be 18+
✔ ICAA Member
✔ Reliable Transportation
✔ Must Attend All Training to qualify for the stipend

Sharing Men's Group mamawi pimohtetan (Walking Together)

Walking forward with purpose: A mamawi pimohtehtan men’s circle

The Justice Department of the Otipemisiwak Government has developed a special engagement series for men: Mamawi Pimohtetan, meaning “walking together” in Cree. This weekly men's circle provides a safe and supportive space where Métis men can learn about boundaries, coping strategies, and healthy relationships.

The program empowers participants with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to heal, communicate with compassion, and build respectful, healthy relationships. Through this journey, participants strengthen their connections to their culture, themselves, and their community while moving forward with purpose.

Join us virtually on Mondays from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. (*Excluding statutory holidays)

Office Closure Notice – Thanksgiving Day

Please be advised that the ICAA office will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2026, in recognition of the Thanksgiving Day statutory holiday.

We hope you have a safe, restful, and peaceful long weekend, surrounded by family, friends, loved ones, and community. Whether you choose to gather, rest, reflect, or simply enjoy a quiet day, we hope you have an opportunity to take care of yourself and connect with those who matter to you.

Kokum’s Circle: Crafts, Bannock & Tea ☕️

A heartfelt thank you to all of the Kokums who joined us yesterday for our very first Kokum’s Circle: Crafts, Bannock & Tea! ❤

It was wonderful to spend the afternoon together sharing crafts, stories, laughter, bannock, tea, and community. We are so grateful to everyone who came out and helped make our first gathering so special.

✨ And we’re just getting started!

There is still room for those who would like to join us for our upcoming sessions. Bring your crafts and share your love for crafting with other Kokums in your community!

Whether you enjoy sewing, knitting, beading, crocheting, or other crafts, bring your current project and spend some time creating, sharing skills, visiting, and connecting with others.

🧵 We’ll support your crafting needs!
We will have materials available as needed, including sewing machines and other crafting supplies, so you can come and enjoy the afternoon without having to bring everything.

🎁 Each session will also include door prizes for attendees!
