The United Nations General Assembly has voted to recognize the enslavement of Africans during the transatlantic slave trade as the gravest crime against humanity.

This truth has always lived within our history, our stories, and our spirit. Today, it is acknowledged before the world.

While this resolution is not legally binding, it carries the weight of global conscience and opens the door for deeper conversations around apology, repair, and justice… 🙏🏾

We honor our ancestors and continue to walk in their strength….One Love always❤️

The first Haitian woman to become a Governor General 🇭🇹✨
jean made history as a trailblazer and symbol of excellence. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she rose to become Canada’s Governor General in 2005, serving with distinction until 2010.

She broke barriers as the first Black person and the first person of Haitian origin to hold this prestigious position.

A true inspiration for generations to come. 🌍💫

Congratulations! to Tamara Lanier after a major legal victory securing ownership of historic photographs tied to her family’s history.

After a 6-year legal battle, Tamara Lanier has been awarded ownership of two 1850 photographs depicting Renty Taylor and his daughter Delia Taylor. The images were originally taken by Louis Agassiz and later held in Harvard University’s collection. Lanier, who says she is a direct descendant, argued the photos belonged to her family and not an institution.

The decision marks a significant moment as the photographs are being returned after years of legal proceedings. The case has drawn attention to historical records, ownership, and the importance of recognizing family connections to the past. Many see this as a meaningful step in acknowledging history while moving forward with greater awareness.
