Tomorrow, September 30, we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

This day is about remembering the children who never made it home, honouring Survivors of residential schools, and recognizing the generations of families and communities who continue to carry the impacts.

Residential schools were not only about removing children from their homes. Children were separated from their families, communities, languages, cultures and traditional ways of life.

That is why this day is also about the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples.

It is about keeping our languages alive. Passing down our teachings. Practising our traditions. Knowing where we come from. Strengthening our families and communities. And ensuring our children and grandchildren grow up safe, protected, connected to their culture, and proud of who they are.

At Tribal Chiefs Employment & Training Services Association, we honour the children, the Survivors, our families, our Nations and the generations still to come.

Get a scoop and support Saddle Lake Cree Nation!

Come by on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this Wednesday and support a very meaningful cause: 100% of sales of scoops and pints of Bannock & Prairie Berry on September 30 will be donated to Saddle Lake Cree Nation, northeast of Edmonton. The Nation is working to offer gender-affirming care on the reserve, grounded in their position that access to health care is a treaty right, and has started fundraising to build and defend its own health law. We’re proud to support them. Bannock & Prairie Berry is made with a passed-down bannock recipe and real, ripe prairie berries including haskaps, Saskatoon berries, blueberries and strawberries - it’s an all time favourite around here and worth lining up for.
