TEAM ALBERTA | DINO CUP 2026
Are you interested in representing Alberta at the Dino Cup? Or are you a coach looking to be part of the Team Alberta coaching staff? 🤼‍♀️🤼‍♂️
AAWA is now accepting Expressions of Interest for both athletes and coaches for the 2026 Dino Cup!

🔹 ATHLETES
Eligible athletes born between 2009–2012 (Grades 9–12) are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest! Selection will be based on rankings from the 2025–2026 season, using results from designated provincial and national competitions.

🔹 COACHES
We are looking for coaches who are Competition Development Certified, or Competition Introduction Certified and actively working toward Competition Development Trained/Certified, with the intention of becoming Competition Development Certified.

This is an opportunity to represent Alberta, compete against teams from across Canada, and contribute to the growth of wrestling in our province! 💪

Join AAWA for a Coaches Superweekend in Edmonton focused on learning, connecting, and growing together as wrestling coaches in Alberta!

The weekend will feature professional development sessions, athlete development discussions, practical coaching education, and opportunities to connect with other coaches from across the province.

📅 Friday Evening – Coaches Social
6:00–8:00 PM
We will kick off the weekend with an informal social and athlete development roundtable. This will be an opportunity to connect with fellow coaches, share experiences, and discuss athlete development in Alberta wrestling.
— Location is currently being confirmed. Further details will be shared once finalized.

📅 Saturday – Coaches Development Sessions
Location: Minerva Room, Van Vliet Complex (VVC), University of Alberta
9:00–10:00 AM: Planning a Practice
10:15–11:15 AM: Athlete Nutrition Session
11:15 AM–12:15 PM: Officiating Session
12:15–1:00 PM: Lunch Break (lunch is not provided; please bring your own or plan accordingly)
1:00–2:00 PM: Women in Wrestling Session

*To Be Confirmed* 2:30 PM–Completion: NCCP Community Coaching Course (optional additional registration)
Community Coaching Course participants: Please bring clean runners or wrestling shoes and athletic clothing. This course includes on-mat practical activities, so appropriate athletic attire is required.

💰 Registration Fees
Coaches Superweekend: $25 per person
NCCP Community Coaching Course: Additional $80 per person
The $25 registration fee covers the Friday evening social and all Saturday development sessions, excluding the optional Community Coaching Course.
Coaches who wish to complete the Community Coaching Course can register for both portions of the weekend for a total of $105 per person.
Please complete the registration form below so we can plan for attendance and coordinate the weekend’s activities.

The AAWA is saddened to hear that long time wrestling alumni Mike Eurchuk has passed away. Mike is a member of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, Wrestling Canada Hall of Fame and was the last official from Alberta to referee at an Olympic Games.
Mike was a long time official in Alberta -1967 to 1984. During that time he also referred at many National and International events. He was the President of the Officials Association for 5 years and a Director serving on the AAWA Board for 16 years, including President from 1985 to 1986.
Mike was also a long time member of the Edmonton Huskies Football, and was involved with with the organization for nearly six decades.
The AAWA extends our condolences to his family, friends, and all that knew him in the wrestling and football communities.

Congratulations to Augusta Eve on earning a bronze medal at the 2026 Poland Open in Warsaw! 🇵🇱🔥 Augusta battled through a strong 50kg international field, finishing the tournament with an impressive 3–1 record on her way to the podium! 💪👏

The international experience continues this week as Augusta and five other Alberta wrestlers take part in the Poland Training Camp in Spała! 🇨🇦🌍

What an incredible opportunity to train alongside international athletes, experience different wrestling styles, and continue developing on the world stage!
