Prepare to unleash the excitement of the Caribbean and debunk the myth that Black people do therapy. The one size approach just does not fit. We have our own ways of healing apart from/complementary to psychotherapy
Next weekend, August 8–10, ReiDefine Wellness is hitting the streets at — one of Edmonton’s biggest and most vibrant Caribbean festivals! 🇯🇲🇹🇹🇧🇧🇬🇩🇩🇲
We’re proud to partner with Cariwest to spotlight something often overlooked but deeply needed: mental health in Black and Caribbean communities.
At our booth, we’ll be:
●Highlighting the importance of culturally relevant mental health care
●Showcasing upcoming workshops, programs, and healing spaces
●Hosting a lively Domino table to challenge the myth that Caribbean folks “don’t do therapy.” We’ve always known how to heal — through games, music, community, and movement. Cariwest is proof. 🕺🏽🎶
●Collecting unused food tickets to be matched dollar for dollar and donated to the Afro-Caribbean Food Bank 💛
We're also honoured to support the Jamaica Association of Northern Alberta (JANA).
📚 We’re also proud to collaborate with the National Black Coalition of Canada (NBCC) and their Black Children Reading Book Club Program, launched August 1. This pilot initiative features Books in Colour — African and Caribbean Canadian (ACC) stories developed by Trinidadian educator Dr. Jean Waldron, now available across Edmonton Public Libraries.

Because no child in Canada should struggle to find a book where they can see themselves. 🧒🏾✨ Representation matters — and so does mental health.
Come by, vibe with us, learn more, and let’s celebrate the beauty of our cultures — and our healing — together. 💃🏾🧠
