Ringette Alberta Try the fastest game on ice!

06/02/2026

Sport should be a place where everyone feels welcome, valued, and safe to be themselves.

Ringette is more than a game. It's friendships, teamwork, belonging, and community. When athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and fans can show up as their authentic selves, our sport becomes stronger.

This month, we celebrate the diversity that makes our ringette community so special and recognize the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.

To our 2SLGBTQIA+ athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters: thank you for being part of our ringette family. You belong here.

Together, we can continue building a sport where every player has the opportunity to learn, grow, compete, and thrive.

Happy Pride Month from Ringette Alberta.

One of the biggest scoring upgrades is learning to shoot while moving laterally across the net instead of skating straight at the goalie.

Goalies have to move side-to-side and often lose their angle.

A simple weekly scorer routine:

Monday → release speed
Tuesday → stickhandling + deception
Wednesday → accuracy
Thursday → shooting while moving
Friday → game-speed drills
Weekend → scrimmage/game application

Thank you SO much McKenna!

We have been obsessed with and the amazing videos they share celebrating indigenous culture and bringing it alive in sport.

We could not resist showing up with a ringette version!

You may remember McKenna as the recipient of the 2024 Spirit Bear Award!

If you have a good news story or a moment, you would love to share that shows life beyond the game we want to see it!

COACHES: STEAL THIS DRILL

Looking for a way to get high reps in both offensive and defensive decision-making under pressure?

Line up cones down half the ice, players move cone to line, cone to line, building controlled momentum.

One player starts on offense, the other on D.

Defensively: They’re working on maintaining tight gap control, staying goal side with inside positioning, then closing the gap near the crease, making contact, and channeling effectively.

Offensively: Players use quick lateral movement, change of speed, and direction to separate from the check, plus fast feet and ring protection skills under pressure.

Once they hit the end, they SWAP ROLES and work back up the ice.

High reps.

Full engagement.

Game-real habits.

Tag a coach who needs to add this to their practice plan.

Would you like a version that also includes what ages this drill works best for or any modifications?
