Women Building Futures We support women’s economic security through employment training and support services. We are a non-profit organization based in Edmonton, Alberta.

We offer programs and support services to help unemployed and underemployed women explore and connect to careers that pay above a living wage. Careers that not only support their own security but often that of their children. We primarily work with women who are underemployed or unemployed and focus on removing common barriers to financial independence. These barriers include access to affordable

housing, academic readiness, access to affordable childcare and more. Over the last 20 years, we’ve grown to become a trusted name in our focus industries for introductory training and inspiring more women to explore career opportunities in these areas.

Women Building Futures is excited to be part of the ICBA - Independent Contractors and Businesses Association Meet the Generals & Owners on September 29, Edmonton's largest industry business development event.

Come see us at Booth # 07 and meet members of our employer partnerships and leadership teams. We're looking forward to connecting with industry, talking about what's ahead and exploring how we can work together.

Proudly headquartered in Edmonton, Women Building Futures has spent more than 25 years helping women build rewarding careers in the skilled trades while supporting employers in strengthening Alberta's workforce. Through our Build Together 2026-2031 strategy, we're working toward an ambitious goal of transforming the lives of 10,000 women by 2040 by training and connecting 90% of participants to rewarding employment. Together with our industry partners, we're getting women ready for the trades and the trades ready for women.

These stories are proof that when women are given equitable access to training, support, mentorship, and meaningful career opportunities, entire families, workplaces, and communities are strengthened.

Today, we're celebrating the incredible women who make up the Women Building Futures community: our students taking that courageous first step, our alumni breaking barriers and thriving in their careers, and our staff who show up every day to support, encourage, and champion success.

While we celebrate the progress that has been made, Women's Equality Day also serves as an important reminder that there is still work to do. Women remain underrepresented in many skilled trades and industrial sectors, and true equality requires continued action, advocacy, and investment in creating workplaces where everyone can belong and succeed.

To our students, alumni, staff, partners, and supporters: thank you for helping build a future where more women can see themselves in careers they love, earn family-sustaining wages, and reach their full potential.

Great conversations, meaningful connections, and a strong day of partnership building at the Waiward Golf Tournament.

Our team had a wonderful time at the Waiward Industrial's Golf Tournament last week, where we connected with employees, industry leaders, and community partners across Alberta’s skilled trades and construction sector.

Events like these create space to strengthen relationships, share experiences, and stay connected with employers who support inclusive workforce pathways and opportunities for Women Building Futures' graduates.

Our students recently visited Liebherr Construction for a firsthand look at life in industry. Walking through the site, seeing operations up close, and hearing directly from the people behind the work gave participants a glimpse into the environments where their training can take them.

Opportunities like this help bridge the gap between training and industry, giving students the chance to experience a workplace firsthand, ask questions, and learn from people working in the field every day.
