Sometimes we forget how big of a sport Canoe Polo is worldwide. Check out this view of HIT 2026 in the Netherlands. And fun fact - Alberta's own ICF Referee Savannah Foged is there as an official! How cool is that 😎🛶

Here's some fun stats on the tournament so far -

352 matches of a total of 462 planned matches are finished, which is 76.2%

113 teams are competing in 5 different divisions, with a total of 863 players.

2486 goals have been scored by 658 different players in 110 different teams.

154 cards have been received by 137 different players in 72 different teams.

It is weird, and we love it! Great little article and the pic features a couple of players from Alberta's own EWP - Edmonton Whitewater Paddlers club.

Inside The Weird World Of Kayak Polo | I hear the splash before I see it. I turn and sprint toward the floating yellow object of my desire. I have a clear path.

Or so I think. Suddenly my friend Sam comes in fast from my right. As I reach for the yellow ball, he crashes into my kayak, his foam-covered bow pushing me off to the side. He scoops it up and, in one smooth motion, hurls it past the goalie’s raised paddle.
