Referendum Day is here. Make sure to vote.

DOC Alberta announcement on the 2026 Alberta Referendum.

This is an incredibly important time in Alberta. And as a provincial chapter of a national documentary organization, we wanted to stress how important it is for everyone to share their voice at the ballot box in the 2026 Alberta Referendum. No matter which way you are voting, it’s imperative that we see high turnout so there is a proper representation of opinions. So please vote at the advanced polls Tuesday to Saturday near you or on referendum day, October 19th.
DOC Alberta is a very dedicated and growing provincial Chapter and benefits from being part of a national network that connects documentary filmmakers across the country, supports collaboration and professional opportunities, and strengthens advocacy for the documentary sector at both the provincial and national levels. The rich tapestry of histories and backgrounds that we welcome and celebrate here makes us better and more thoughtful storytellers.

Congratulations to the Alberta-wide Crip Trip team, many of whom are Documentary Organization of Canada members, on their 15 nominations at this year’s Rosie Awards.

We are incredibly humbled to see Crip Trip nominated 15 times at this year’s AMPIA Rosie Awards, across everything from Best Unscripted Series and Cultural Diversity to directing, writing, cinematography, editing, sound and original music. You can watch Seasons 1 and 2 on AMI - you can watch Season 1, with Season 2 premiering on TVO Docs this fall!

Workshop Update: Building Your Audience

DOC Alberta has made the difficult decision to postpone our Building Your Audience workshops originally scheduled for June 27 in Calgary and June 28 in Edmonton.

We remain committed to bringing this workshop to Alberta's documentary community and are currently exploring new dates. We look forward to sharing more details soon.
